Hey guys,

I'm in a process of creating a simple web site for my friends and myself. I would like to include a small forum, but have no clue what I need for it or where to start.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Well, I go through www.venturesonline.com for my website (www.deralta.net). In their $10/month shared virtual hosting plan, you can set up a asmall website, and a forum. It's a small amount of bandwidth (5gig/month) but you can easily bump that higher.

They host my website as well as my wife's website. IN the 18 months I've been using them, they've rarely been down and if so, never more than an hour.

I was wondering if there is a small script that one could write for a very basic forum...something, well, free.

Thanks,

That's the software that I'm running on my forum/journal. I believe it's the same software that GTX, and Racing-line.org are running.

Very simple and easy. You only need to find space on the web to host it.

WOW! That's awesome Der Alta!!! Took me all of three minutes to download, extract, upload, and even applied a style.

Keep in mind, nothing is configured, but wow.....very, very easy.

Thanks everybody! I just downloaded phpbb, but I'm having a bit of a problem setting it up. I think i might have downloaded a wrong zip file, I was a little confused on what to get.

Thanks,

Sorry i have no experience with setting a forum up.
Is there any way I can create it and test it on my computer? I'm a little confused on where to start.

Thanks for any help

What's the host your using?

Thanks! I'm just wondering if I could set it up at my home computer for testing and such, or do I have to do it on a server.
BTW for now im using 250free.com, I'll move as soon as I get enough money to get something better.

I also think I downloaded the wrong thing...would you point me to the right URL?

Thanks in advance!
