If you want to get some seriously crazy information, research Jainism. They apply 'emotions' or senses to all things living. If anything has three or more senses, they do not harm it. This pretty much reduces their diet to carrots, potatos, and dirt. Interesting concept ...

hey kids ......what do you want for supper tonight? ....Do you want carrots or would you rather have some fresh dirt?

One thing that has buffedled me terribly is the way creationists view evolution... most will believe in micro-evolution, but are strongly opposed to macro-evolution. Why? There are very similiar, just that macro is on a larger scale and time frame than micro...
i know what you mean .....it's like with macroevolution, it involves such a huge time-span that alot of people cannot even comprehend ....they don't seem to realize how insignificant their time on earth is in relation to the age of the universe .....like some things we see in space (like a distant star exploding) happened millions of years ago yet we are just seeing them now because of how far the light has to travel ....

Wait wait wait ... "fresh dirt"? Evolution BUB. It's the same dirt that has been around FOREVER. There's nothing fresh about that! (:

That's something we talked about in my geography class. The professor refered to it as "geographical time". People don't believe in the 'one continent / seafloor spreading / plate techtonics' theory, because they don't see it happening right before them.

You can't really blame any of these people though. If they haven't been given the same information that the scientific world has been given, they're not going to "blindly believe what they have not witnessed with their own eyes" ...

"Information is power." - I don't remember who said that first, but they were right.

you are so right and i feel bad for the uninformed for i feel that they miss out on ALOT of amazing things

You mean people think that the world always looked how it presently does? ....that's brutal ....i know continental drift is a slow process but it's still evident (just 1 example: the mid-atlantic ridge is widening by about 18 mm (almost 1 inch) /year .....the same rate as your fingernails grow!) and another example: the Himalayas were formed when India slammed into Asia (it was the biggest collision that ever occured between two land masses)

plate techtonics? ......that's so basic .....where do they think earthquakes and volcanoes fit in? .....San Andreas Fault and Turkey ...get out with your family while you still can

i mean continental drift and plate techtonics are such basic concepts that is taught in high-school .....stay in school people!

Earthquakes and Volcanoes ... acts of God. Seriously, you can't blame them. Look at the Greek and Roman gods. They had gods for everything that could not be explained ... because they didn't know.

I'm going to bed.

I thought God was all loving and all forgiving.....

That doesn't sound very Christian to me...........

Evolution is my belief!!!!!

that's what i was thinking (a little harsh) ... assuming God exists, i think that if we treat each other good but don't happen to believe in God, i think God would still have a place for us in Heaven, because in the end that's the greatest and goodest (that's definitely not a word) thing we can do in our very short lives here

Me: raised Catholic (attended Catholic elementary and Catholic high-school)

Evolution is a given.
