I don’t feel like a fool at all lol. I haven’t even attempted to buy it. Quite a number of forum members here have made the mistake though. Buncha foolish dedicated GT7 fanatics!

I am amazed by folks that have English as mother tongue and screwed up on this (IMO) non-issue. I am afraid they will potentially screw up their mortgage contract in real life as well, and blame "capitalism".

I don't know. Maybe you misunderstood my post or something - it was sarcasm. "Reading is fundamental." You are the one referring to the people who made the mistake of buying the wrong item here in derogatory terms. Quite a number of forum members have made this error and you have called them fools for it. These are people who are pretty committed fans of the game and presumably pretty familiar with dlc and the PSN and so forth given their membership in this GT7 forum...and yet they screwed up and clicked that button on the screen and bought the wrong thing. I can only assume a pretty substantial number of the 10 million or so GT7 owners who aren't members of this forum also made the mistake.

And I'll reiterate...I haven't bought the dlc. I didn't make the mistake (of buying the mtx instead of the dlc I mean). Initially when I saw that button in the image I posted I thought "oh there's the new dlc right there" but after looking a bit more closely I realized something "hinky" was afoot (lol) and it wasn't the dlc but instead just a 5M credit mtx. So, I did what most people will do...I read it and noticed it wasn't the thing people were looking for. But I also said to myself "oh, there's going to be folks who make a mistake there." And, I was right. They aren't fools. They are just people who made a fairly reasonable assumption that the new thing sitting there on they day it was expected for the price they expected called an "add on pack" was what they wanted and they failed to pay attention after that point.

I never buy credits or anything else, I have $200M in cars, no need to buy $5M. This is the screen I saw, knew that the power pack had $5M additional credits, and that it was $24.99, and saw the word "pack" on it and hit buy.

It's my fault, I get that, but I feel like it was an obvious attempt to dupe users, and will push that as far as I can.

Yeah, ultimately people are responsible for knowing what they are buying. Obviously. For me, it's just the specifics of this particular situation that make it feel like a bit of a bait and switch. 🤷‍♂️ That link that appeared on the day the PP came out...right on the PS5 home screen. Like I said, I immediately thought "that's going to catch some people." I'm pretty sure there's someone at Sony at least as smart as I am (aka not very smart lol) who would also recognise that being a potential issue. When I scroll through all my games on the PS5, GT7 is the only one that has any links to add-ons sitting right there. They pretty much all have some dlc content available. I guess maybe they are time-limited or something as far as links on the home page go. I don't know. I feel kinda bad though because I bet there's a good number of kids who convinced their parents to buy them the new GT7 dlc and got 5M credits and nothing else for the same money. I mean the two items appeared on the store at the same time - why would anyone who doesn't already have the PP buy the 5M credit package rather than the power pack for the same money?? I'd bet that every single sale of the 5M package on that day (and most every day since) was a mistake.

It's like if a shop advertises a big vacuum cleaner deal - "Next week for 1 day only you can get a Hoover T100 Vacuum PLUS an extra battery, a 1 year supply of disposable bags and a 10 foot hose extension - a $300 value - for the low low price of $149.95! Don't miss out!" Then on the day of the sale they put a little pile of T100 vacuums with the extra swag in a corner at the back of the vacuum dept and out by the front entrance a huge stack of T100 vacuums - but just the vacuums no swag - with a big $149.95 sign on them and predictably people stream through the entrance, grab their vaccum off the stack and head for the checkout. Then they tear into the box at home and they're all "Hey wtf where's my swag???" So they hustle back to the store and the owner is all "Ohhhh, you wanted the T100 package over their at the back of the vacuum dept. Sawwwwwwyyyyyy!"

What "strange twist" was that, exactly? Your last comment was "Get a grip FFS" to those people who may have a different view to yourself concerning the way PD decided to organise the purchasing of credits and the Power Pack.
In my opinion, they have valid concerns, even if from a purely legal perspective, PD didn't do anything wrong. There's such a thing as the "letter of the law" and the "spirit of the law"

Some clients appreciate the blunt, direct approach. However, not everyone does. In this life, it's advisable to be adaptable. Just saying. But we're good 😉

Click on the button "check balances" when you see the credits window, the 5mil shows up in a separate place from "earned" credits. You still have them but you won't use them until you spend ALL your earned credits...

You haven't shown the game's Add-Ons menu. Other people have, and it clearly shows all five MTXs and the Power Pack.

What you've shown is one highlighted Add-On when the game tile is selected in the PS5 Home. If you tap the down cursor (five times) you reach the game's Add-Ons menu.

The issue is that you looked in the wrong place, clicked the wrong thing thinking it was the right thing, clicked it twice more, and paid for it.

I'm sure you had good reason to think it was the right thing, despite having an entirely different name to the right thing, but it changes nothing. You're out $29.99 as a result.

As I prefaced an earlier post, maybe I'm just a weird, miserly Yorkshireman who doesn't like parting with money, but I'd make sure that I'm buying the thing with the name of the thing I wanted to buy and not a thing that doesn't have that name.

PD, for its part, tried to get everyone to buy it via the in-game ship - not even mentioning the PS Store and leading to some confusion that it wouldn't be available in the PS Store, as seen in the PPDLC thread.


Moving back to the purely informative, I've actually now found two examples where the "highlighted" Add-On (I don't know the official name for that section of the Home UI) is not the alphabetically-first-of-the-most-recent items in the Add-Ons section. Interestingly, both are games originally released for the PS4 and then, some time later, re-issued as PS5 titles.

I don't have that many originally PS5 releases on my consoles that also have Add-Ons and also have one highlighted, so I can't check any further now. Also worth noting: I've seen one title which has a "highlighted" Add-On for one account but not another, on the same console...


Edit: So, I've asked around. Upshot: my assumption is kind of true, and it's automated to most recent and then alphabetical sorting (same as the Add-Ons menu) but sometimes a discounted Add-On is featured - and they're called Featured, not Highlighted; now we know! 😁 - instead, which explains ACC.

Whether the Featured Add-On... umm, feature... is supported or not is a dev/pub choice as I understand it, but something about that (not sure what/how; I'll ask more) changed in mid-2024 for games certified after that point.
