Well, today my parents' credit card bill came back with a bunch of charges for RuneScape and World of Warcraft. Now, me being a 13 year old teenager with a friend who was present at the dates and both with bad records, of course they suspect me.

So... wtf do I do?

I've thought about asking the credit card companies to trace the IP. Is this possible?

Well, the credit card company proved useless. We'll call them and Blizzard tomorrow, when they're active and have supervisors present.

Jagex has no phone contact, only mail.

Do your parents a favor, do not borrow their credit card(s) ever again.

Why try and cover up the fact that this is entirely your fault?

No one's going to guess a credit card number, expiration date, name, and address. You either fell for a phish, (which, if you did, is hilarious) or did something else retarded like just blatantly give it out.

Whatever the case, it's your fault.

Hmmmmm.....sounds to me that "your friend" could be the one who's using it. How else would anybody know about the credit card number....
I rest my case.

Well if you didn't use your parents card (and probably even if you did) your parents can dispute the transactions made as they didn't authorise them. They should contact their bank or credit provider to do this.
They should also look at cancelling that credit card account so that no more unauthorised transactions can be made on the account.

Do you actually have either RuneScape or World of Warcraft? - if not then it can't possibly be you can it. If you do have and use these games perhaps the credit card has been used previously for online purchases and the details have been added by some kind of 'auto fill'?

Sounds to me that your parents shouldn't be suspecting or blaming anyone. If you don't want unsuspected credit card charges, it's pretty easy, keep your credit card information private.

Like you said, you're a 13-year-old teenager. Tell your parents what happens to their credit card is their business.

If you have a Runescape or WoW account check your account details. It may have renewed your subscription automatically. I used to have my Star Wars Galaxies account set to auto renew.

Well my name is pretty much clear. It can't be my friend, I was with him all of the time, and I never showed or gave the number. Which I'm angry at you for suggesting. Apparently we were lucky to only have about 150 dollars in charges, my dad's looked it up and found cases up to 800 dollars! I used to play RS but don't have WoW. It was probably the TJ Maxx we shop at, apparently there was a big outburst of credit card number thefts there recently

Well if that's true and it is TJ Mazz (whatever that is) you should get refunded the money.

Get in touch with your bank or card provider. Generally they reimburse if the number has been 'ripped-off'.

TJ Maxx is like the global TK Maxx chain, only it scores 3 more points in Scrabble.

Anyway, to answer the original question - which was "wtf do I do?"... Nothing.

Your parents credit card number was ripped off. Not yours. They should be calling their credit card company to tell them that there are payments they haven't approved. The credit card company will then send them a form to fill in to say what payments they didn't approve. They will also cancel their card and send them a new one.

At no point - unless it was you who paid for things on their card - does it become your responsibility, nor are you required (or permitted - since you aren't the cardholder) to do anything.

I must be like the only person on the planet without a credit card and over the age of 18...

Still, how on earth do you have a bad reputation with a credit card at the age of 13? Is it typical for parents to let their kids use Credit Cards at the age 13 or younger these days, cause I did use a "card" till I was 16, and that was a gas card to buy gasoline for the 300+ miles a I drove a week for school...

Cases up to 800 dollars? For credit card fraud in general, or just with Runescape and WoW, because 800 dollars sounds like nothing compared to some things I have heard of. You guys got off lucky, from the sound of it. Question is now was it someone working at TJ Maxx, or their computer system being compromised...

General note on handling a card... swipe it whenever you can, and only let the store clerk handle it long enough to swipe it. They are suppose to hand the card right back to you after they swipe it.

I don't have a credit card. It's my parents. I have a bad reputation for lying, porn, cheating on stuff, stealing, cursing, violence, and eerything else.

I think this thread has outlived its usage by now.

Dude you're 13! You're supposed to be a little bastard who steals, curses and looks at porn. Somebody's keeping your parents out of the loop though...

Hmm, yes i don't find it surprising when your parents do not trust, you, the only answer i can give to 'So... wtf do I do?' is stop doing the stuff above, and try gaining a little more trust.:dunce: There nice and easy.

Leave the kid alone man.

Hey Sakiale, FYI: your dad looks at porn also.

While this is completely true, its another thing if they assume you stole their credit card :indiff: You need to keep just enough trust so they don't think you'll sell them over seas for dog food if you had the chance :dunce:

I'm 28 and have a debit card, but no credit card.

Exactly. I've heard of cases where waiters and waitresses would have a little scanner on their belts that they would swipe the card through while walking and it would store the information, then when they get home they unload all the data. Whether it is true or not I don't know but it made me paranoid.

Seriously, you are a 13 year old male. This should be expected. Of course, that is also why I don't see a problem with their immediately suspecting you. What woudl you do in their shoes?

When I was a kid any time something went wrong, got broken, or scorch marks appeared in the yard my parents first asked my brother and then myself. 99% of the time they were right.
