Ive only just thought of this after thinking about how someone said that my ZZII tune understeers when for me, it drives perfectly fine and i think ive come across the main problems:

1. Driving style differences - some people drive cars very hard and late on brakes this creates tons of race line and understeer issues as well as consistency problems. were as other drivers will sit back a bit and let the race line drive them more than the feeling of a speed demon.

2. cross-track tuning issues.
sure you can tune a car to do under 7 mins on nordschleife but does that mean itll work well on another track such as la sarthe? no it wont because of elevation changes from nurburgring compared to a relatively flat track of la sarthe. the tune would need serious changes in spring rates, toe settings, camber and even aero or LSD. This is the problem with very "general" tunes they may work great on certain tracks but people who cant take the time to learn how to adjust tunes to the track/them and only whine and cry in return for you actually making an effort to write a reply and trying to help them

3. Wheels or DS3's
there is a big step up in these, i found to match the times with DS3 as i set with the wheel i needed ridiculous negative toe settings.

4. GT5 physics updates.
although i have only barely experienced this when using tunes from 2011 i found they nearly made the car handle worse, so always check the date on the post of the tune your using.

long thread but im sick of reading people who just complain when someone tries to help them because there too lazy to attempt to tune themselves. yes i used to do this but in the end it becomes counter productive because most tunes are for there driving style and not your own.

I don't know. I mean sure a tune adjustment is necessary from track to track especially Spring Rates. But generally speaking, if I tuned a car for Nurb and then go to, for example Fuji, I tolerate the slightly softer feel and merely "tune" my expectations. The steering and other aspects always seem to be "there or thereabouts" but a slight adjustment in driving style always goes a long way.

So yes, I do agree about the attitudes of people when it comes to tunes. But I also do feel that these people do not necessarily have to go and change the tune from track to track. Another option for them, and many people think this is advisable, will be to adjust their driving style to suite the car. But that's just my opinion ...just sayin' ...

completely right with what your saying i agree, i mean it wouldnt be massive changes to set-ups but the tune would still work fine it just depends how much you want to be able to push the car

Really, A well tuned car should handle well to some extent on Any course. The big thing with tuning for different tracks is going to be high speed stability, as this is the only place I can see a change in location, or rather track type, affecting the car enough to cause issues. I honestly see no reason a good driver in a well tuned car can't make good laps on tracks the cars wasn't tuned for with only minor changes in driving style

@MrPainCake - I agree with everything in your opening post.

One of the tuners who I respect the most is Praiano. A large part of the community likes his tunes. So many like them that GTPlanet should just rename the tune of the week to the Praiano tune of the week. But, when I drive his tunes, I get a bit of mid-corner push and most of the time an outside red tire on exit. It's probably a difference between driving styles at corner entry. I bet if we took identical cars and laid the replays over each other, I drive down to the apex harder and rely on a quick mid-corner rotation. He may treat the braking zone and turn in with a little more respect and more gradually rotate the car, getting back on throttle more quickly than me. Both of us can build fast tunes, but mine fit me best just as his will fit him best.

@ motor - exactly
i use both you and praiano's tunes on a weekly basis as a BASE deal and then ill drive it and reflect on what it needs to suit my driving, more toe? tighter or softer springs and what not. but its just frustrating when people just whine about someones tune that was for there driving style and not the whiners.
