Crysis Patch 1.2 Installer Installation Wrapper?

When opening patch 1.2 for crysis i have the following error.

Windows Installer Installation Wrapper
The upgrade patch cannot be installed by windows installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade patch may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct upgrade patch.

I dont understand what it wants because the program is installed. I dont exactly know where to put the patch in order for it to realise the game exists.

Help please?

The patch is for multiplayer so you know.

I didn't have any problems with it. I was running it on the same drive that the game was on, but it was in a totally different directory.

You mentioned it was for multiplayer.. as far as I'm aware, that was the 1.21 hotfix, not the 1.2 patch. The hotfix requires the 1.2 patch to already be installed, it's not cumulative like the patch is. What's the name of the file, and how big is it? I've got two patch files here.. Crysis_Patch_1_2.exe at 361MB (the cumulative one), and Crysis_Patch_1_2_1.exe at only 36MB. Make sure you're installing the right file.
 
I didn't think anyone would know there was a 1.21 for it so i didn't bother mentioning it.

Im using the one called "Crysis_Patch_1_2.exe" at 369,730kb.
The one im not using, "Crysis_Patch_1_2_1.exe" is at 37,526kb.

Clearly there is a difference so could you lend me your download link?
 
I think I got both of them from Crymod, just go to the "Downloads" section of the site, and you'll see them listed there.

All I did was download the two files, installed the 1.2, then installed the 1.21, didn't give me any trouble.
 
Thats where i got it lol. But why are mine a different size? Do i have to unpack them or something?

EDIT: I just realised mine are in fact the same size as yours, the actual size on disk is 361mb but it shows how ever many kb it was before.

EDIT 2: Im going to re download buton a different site and hope to god that i dont waste another 360mb...
 
Biggest waste of download ever. That rules out an issue with the patch. Im just wondering if i need patch 1.1 beforehand?
 
I don't think so.. the 1.2 patch is cumulative, it includes all the updates from 1.1.

Maybe the patch doesn't know where the game is installed? Did you install it into the default directories like C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis, etc?

Maybe a uninstall/reinstall is in order, make sure everything is where it's supposed to be. And make sure the DVD is in the drive, like you were playing the game.. maybe it's looking for that.
 
I had moved it to the folder it would be in as default but it didn't do anything. Ive moved it back to where it was but, i dont think it is finding it so it might be time for a re-install.
