Hello iwas playing f1 2011 and spent a long time playing with different settings on the game menu. i think i have a good starting point but i also think there is a lot of room for adjustment and maybe there are others out there who want to see how people are tuning their new elites for various games. please help out us newbs and post them here. no opinions about the wheel, we have enough of those, just tunings please. also please include wheel settings too as to avoid confusion.

On f1 2011:
Linearity default
steering deadzone 3
steering saturation 70
throttle deadzone 3
Throttle saturation 50
Break deadzone 2
Break saturation 55

Force feedback menu:
Environment 70
strength 70
Wheel weight 60

On wheel itself:
sen 600
Ff 100
Shock 100
Acl on

im having a hard time geting the wheel speed and rotational position on my fanatec to match the picture in the game. to correct for this im balancing the saturation level in the game with the sensetivity level on the wheel to no avail

I don't own an Elite mate but 600degrees is way too much for a F1 car.

Anything from 240-300 should put you in the ballpark at least.

Also try turning SENS to off. That should allow the game to set the degrees for you.

Have fun.

Oh Damper (DPR) minus 3 (-3). Is a great help too for my Wheel in that game. It gets rid of some mushy effects.

ACL should be off as no clutch is involved.
Personally I would get rid of any in game deadzones too.

Interesting, i know f1 only had 270 degrees but everyone had been saying to set the elite at 900. so i had been trying to keep the sens as high as possible and adjust the saturation level in the game to compensate. i'd like some other opinions here as well. what sens are you running your elites on f1, forza, etc?
Also has anyone had probs with running auto clutch? default button mapping looks back everytime i hit the paddle shifters with the autoclutch on

I've a question for you.

Why are you using ACL in this game?

Edit. Sorry I was assuming you were talking about F1.

You have to make sure the clutch is mapped to the A button in Forza 4 contoller options menu. Autoclutch is not configurable and only uses the A button. I know setup 1 is like this and I think another setup is also, but I'm not at home and can't check right now.

Here are my settings for Forza 4 with the CSR Elite using FW 715.

Ovals
Sen 900, FF 100, Sho 100, dri OFF, AbS OFF, Lin 020, dEA 000, SPr 1, DPr -3

Ingame settings
Force Feedback 50, Vibration 100, Steering Deadzones 0/100, Throttle 5/90, Brake 15/100, Clutch 5/30

F1 2011 (PC) in game:

dri +3
force 120
spr off
dpr off

simracer92, if I may ask, are you using THAT wheel with F1 2011 yet, and if you can answer without breaking any embargoes, is it working well in-game?

My current Forza 4 settings

In game 80% strength
100% vibration

Sen 540-700 (car dependent )
FF 80-100 ( car dependent )
Sho 100
dri OFF
Abs 75
Lin 0
dEA 0
SPr 0 (dropping this to -1 can make a significant change to FFB strength and how the wheel kicks )
dPr 0
ACL off

F1 2011 on Xbox:

In game wheel settings:

Advanced: everything is at 0%

FFB in game:

Environmental: 10%
Feedback strength: 20%
Wheel weight: 10%

On wheel:

Sen 210
FF 60
Sho 100
dri 003
Abs 75
Lin 0
dEA 0
SPr 0
dPr -2
ACL off

I don't like overly strong FFB in my games so some will find these settings light for what they may prefer.

Wheel weight is important to get right in this game. I find if you crank it up you will lose the understeer feedback in the game and then can't tell when the car understeers. The dPr setting doesn't seem to affect wheel feel other than effects like when you clip or run over curbing. When set at -3 the effects are very sharp. When turned up to 0 the effects are just as strong but the initial sharpness is toned down compared to the -3 setting. Settings above 0 seem to mush those effects too much for my taste.

F1 is a tricky game to tweak. It's best to make one change at a time as all 3 settings interact with one another it seems. Same would apply with the advanced wheel settings. I think it's best to start everything at 0% and get the feel as close as possible in the FFB settings ingame and on the wheel and then fine tune as needed if you want in the advanced settings menu.

I really like the FFB in F1 though......I find it quite a bit better than Forza.

Next up.....tweaking for GT5

My current Forza 4 settings

Similar for me...

In game max strength
100% vibration

Sen 400-900 (car dependent )
FF 70-100 ( car dependent )
Sho 100
dri 0
Abs 60
Lin 0 (some cars used with lower Sen feel nicer to me with a little Lin)
dEA 0
SPr 0
dPr 0
ACL off (mood & car dependent)

Many Kerbs in the game use the FFB for the main effect not so much the rumble. With FM4 FFB feeling weaker than GT5 is why I run the game strength quite high.

You keep the wheel weight at only 20, do you think that is pretty realistic? thats one area i dont have a clue about how a real f1 wheel should feel. i'm not understanding how some of the wheel features affect the feel such as drift and abs, also in the game settings for f1 2011 i dont have a clue what it should feel like as far as wheel weight and environmental effects ( i just want the most realistic feel and behavior because its not something you can understand just from watching it on tv) this is why i started this thread because I cant be the only newb with an elite who could use some tuning help. thank you for posting everyone

I think that these are my settings... atm I cant play so that are the settings I used back in November.. in the FFB menu I used 20-80-20.
But I dont know in which order these settings are, I just used the order quoted in the first post :p But I can check it for you in 11 hrs ;)
But for me the 20-80-20 ffb order was absolutely amazing... ;)

I will try that thanks. i have tried setting all the in game settings to zero and i found that the countersteer reaction times were too slow, i added a little steering sensativity (about 25-35) and it is much quicker now. i like a little acceleration sensativity too but i'm using the elite pedals so that might feel differently than csp's. a little break sensativity helped me too. i dont have any deadzones though

I thought setting SENS above 270 resulted in linearity problems?

Or was that solved in latest FW (I use 721b)?

The twitchiness in Forza 4 when running sensitivities higher than 270 is a bug in the game, not a problem of the wheel. I don't think it can be fixed with a firmware update. The game needs a patch.

For some reason Forza 4 has a reverse linearity when you set your wheel sensitivity over 270 meaning the steering is more sensitive near the center. I can't remember where, but I have seen videos proving this. It has been shown that a Lin setting on the wheel of 20 is the best compromise for cancelling out the reverse linearity of the game.

I personally use 3 different sensitivities when playing Forza 4. Sen 400 for all R1 and some R2 cars on road tracks. Sen 540 for all other cars on road tracks. Sen 900 for all cars on oval tracks. I use a Lin setting of 20 for all sensitivities.

That sounds about right, im pretty sure LMP1 class irl doesnt have over 400 degree steering rotation either, but couldnt tell you what gt class race cars use. i'll see if i can find out and post it here

I have seen that chart before and I'm not really worried about it. I bought a wheel that has a wide range of settings so I can adjust it to what works best for me. It's nice to be realistic, but I have spent many hours on Forza and came up with settings that work for me. I share those settings with anyone who asks, but I always tell everyone you need to find what works for you. Having someone elses settings is a good thing if you have no idea where to start or even if you just want to compare them with your own. But the bottom line is you need to try different things to see what works best for you.

I went back and edited my F4 settings and added my current F1 settings

I also have the CSR Elite wheel and use it for Forza 4 and GT5. In Forza 4 the wheel and especially the force feedback is fantastic. But in GT5 I am missing a lot of feedback information. For example there is all information missing when your car start to loose grip in a corner.

Before I was using a G27 for GT5 and the CSR Elite is still better, but on Forza 4 the wheel is much, much better.

So maybe I have done something wrong with the settings in GT5. What wheel have you selected in game (there are no Fanatec wheels to select), and what are your settings for the CSR Elite in GT5? Thanks.

I use the Steering Wheel settings menu and I mapped my buttons using the G27 menu. I'm going by memory here as I'm at work.....I'll edit later to make sure it's spot on.

My current settings are below:

In game:

Simulation mode
Feedback strength: 3
Vibration on

SEN 900 ( going lower wipes out a lot of FFB info like understeer)
FF 100 ( if you want FFB stronger or lighter do it in the game menu. Dropping it on the wheel causes a loss of FFB effects )
Sho 100
dri OFF
Abs 75
Lin 0
dEA 0
SPr -3 (dropping this seems to improve the feel of the onset of understeer as I think GT5 sends quite strong centering forces to the wheel)
dPr -3
ACL off

Its really interesting to see how differently people use the same wheel, i would have never guessed to turn down the wheel weight could effect the feel of the back end stepping out but as soon as i turned mine down to 20 i really could feel what the rear tires were doing which really helps when you dont use traction control in the rain! thanks guys, my laptimes are improving with each new tip i get here

Thanks a lot for the tip! I have solved my problem now. I had set my force feedback strenght to max (10). I was hoping to get more information that way. But that is wrong. As a matter of fact I did get less information that way. It seems to me that the motors of the CRS Elite are too powerful for maximum setting in GT5.

By the way: if somebody need other settings for Fanatec wheels, check this site out: http://f-wheel.com/settings

The need to set Linearity in FM4 to 20 seems to have been eliminated. I set my wheel to SENS 460, 540, 720 and 900 - no problem with inverse linearity. I've not done anything to the wheel, so they must have quietly patched FM4 itself.

On 460, this is the best FFB out there, except for rFactor2 - which is *unbelievable* with the CSRE.

rFactor 2 settings:
PC Driver - set rotation to taste (I like 270 for open wheel, 900 for others).
In Game - set FFB strength (it keeps your settings per-car) to 0.5. Full strength is too much with this wheel. Everything else on default.

Best FFB ever. It truly feels real. Try it and see.
