hey guys so this year im using the csr with elite pedals for gt academy and i want to get the settings as close to a feeling as the DFGT would be or the g27 in standard trim.

ive been expirement alot with settings

i heard turning off sen is better and its not, ect ect ect

im running 720
70ffb
abs 100
0 drift ect ect

what settings in game and on the wheel would give me the closest/best performance to the dfgt or g27 for gt5

thanks

Turn FFB to 100 on wheel and adjust as needed in game.
This is very important with fanatec wheels.

Also turn ABS down to around 50. This will activate the vibration motors just under in game lock up for most settings.

Try drift 1. This allows the wheel to center faster.

Spring/ damper Are up to you.

I usually run around 840 for steering degrees. Odd number but it's where I settled for the more road cars. Although iirc turning this off allows the game to tell the wheel what degree the car should have.

I don't have a csr, but I do have its brother in the gt2

Since all the changes to FFB in game, I have ended up as follows on my GT2:

In game FFB: 2

Essential settings on wheel:
FFB 100 (essential setting to keep wheel spin speed high)
900 degrees
Spring -3
Damper -3
Drift 5

All of these settings are aimed at getting the absolute fastest spin speed out of the wheel, dialling out as much turning resistance as possible, I.e. as close as possible to G25/27 type of feel, but then with added belt-drive nuance and goodness.

The CSR has a lighter rim, so you might find lower drift mode works sufficiently.

Some people recommend turning SEN to Off when using Fanatec wheels with PS3 games, that way the game software determines the degrees of rotation per car.

Its recommended to adjust the FFB in the game and not the Fanatec wheel as it just cuts off the effects on settings set below 100.

skazz, I tried the spring and damper at -3 on my Carrera wheel and I love it thank you for the tip. I have a much better control on that car and it makes me faster. I have not played with the in game FF set up yet, I am at maximum at this time.
my set up now is:
Sen Off
FF 100
Dri Off
Abs off ( does nothing on the Carrera)
Lin 000
Dea 000
Spr -3
Dpr -3

i did a little test.

5 laps on laguna with gtr 07

with steering at 900
FFB 90
ABS 80
drift 0
rest at zero

then did a test with sen off
ffb 100
same as above for rest

on some hardcore hot laps i was instantly .700 faster. Cars turn in felt much better. more predictable ect

did this test with several cars and the sen off felt way better and i was atleast .500 faster in every car wow

May I ask why some of you change your SPR and DPR to -3? During normal driving, I don't really notice that much of a difference, but when the car is damaged, the settings I run seem to make the pulling/vibrating effects more substantial.

SEN: Off
FF: 100
SHO: 100
DRI: Off
ABS: 57 (but this one goes up or down depending on the car)
LIN: 000
DEA: 010 (still not sure if I like it this way or at 000 more)
SPR: 3
DPR: 1

Setting spr and dpr to -3 reduces the strength of spring and damping forces.

Reasoning: The GT2 wheel has quite a lot of inherent turning resistance (more than the G25), so to achieve the intended amount of steering "weight" for the G25 setting, I think reducing the level of spring and damping effects on wheel is necessary. You can further tune steers "weight" in game, of course. I use FFB 2 in game, since my testing showed that it offers the same level of standard rumble, bump and car grip/weight feel, but with less turning resistance than the default setting of 5.

I tried a deadzone at one point to reduce steering oscillation effects when driving straight, but even 010 deadzone feels totally unnatural. I couldn't control the car properly. Besides, since the recent FFB changes I reckon steering oscillation is less annoying than before.

Thanks for the response. I never had a G25/27; I always bought Logitech's Driving Force wheels. The CSR was so completely different that trying to get it to feel more like what I was used to proved too difficult. So, I just adapted. And yeah, I think at one point having a little deadzone was better, but after playing with it again this weekend, now I've decided to put it back to 000.
