CSR or G27? Or possibly the T500RS?

I was just given the go ahead to buy a wheel from my wife :D but I have a limit of $500 or so. Well she told me to be reasonable, whatever that means?

Anyways, I currently have a DFGT and love it. I have owned a Fanatec Carrera wheel and hated it. So I'm torn. What I love about the DFGT is it is very snappy on the feedback and very precise feeling. What I hated about the Carrera wheel is it felt very mushy and just kinda heavy feeling with not as precise feedback. Because of this I'm tempted to just get the G27. It seems like an all around solid work horse that I won't be disappointed with, but for christmas I really want to ask for an xbox 360 with Forza. This is where the problem lies. I know the CSR just came out and have read as much as I can on it. ISR said it is snappier like the logitech wheels, but is it really?

Now also for just above my limit I can get a T500RS. The one thing I love about the T500rs is it has zero wheel wobble which is what I absolutely hate about GT5 with the logitechs. The main reason why I am not jumping for that is the xbox w/ Forza thing again. Also, for less than $500 I can get the CSR with club sport pedals. What to do?!?!

I am facing a similar dilemma.

I think the G27 would be best in the interim; until T500 RS has some product history (besides shifter also is extra).

When my G25 wears out; I'll get the G27. $300 Canadian at a store right now.

When I have money; proven reliability; shifter included; lower price than $600 Canadian; and the F1 switchable wheel is available in Canada-then I'll get the T 500RS :)

You hate the wheel wobble, so don't get a G27!
You hated the Carrera, so don't get anything with a similar base. At least that's what my gut feeling says as I only have a G25 and T500 RS.

So that leaves either an CSR E or T500 RS.

I'd say get the CSR E if you really want to play Forza. Maybe you want to postpone the Xbox+Forza combo and ask wifey if you can get an early Christmas clubsport pedal present instead to make a nice setup.

At least that's what I would do. Just my take on the dilemma. ;)

I do hate the fanatec's base! That's why if I go with the fanatec I'm getting the club sport clamp, but unfortunately its out of stock till the end of November :(

The Carrera is VERY different from Fanatec's higher end wheels. I have a GT2 and briefly "tested" a Carrera before giving it as a gift. This is one of those times where "night and day difference" applies. They may as well be completely unrelated products. The Carrera is fine and feature-rich for its price segment, but the belt-driven wheels like the GT2 and CSR are much smooth, much quieter, more precise, and faster. My GT2 has been good with Gran Turismo and great with Forza. The CSR is reported to be faster and twitchier than the GT2, but I have no firsthand experience.

The T500 RS is a substantial upgrade over the GT2. I think the GT2 is a great wheel, but the T500 RS, especially in GT5, is a different animal. If you can live without Xbox 360 support (I couldn't, personally), the T500 RS is the wheel to get for now.

I'm hoping the CSR Elite lives up to the hype. I'm excited to have a wheel of T500 RS caliber that works with all my systems.

Carrera and CSR/GT2 are basically night and day.
Completly different mechanisms (gear vs belt drive) so they don't feel the same at all.
So, if I was you, I'd pick Fanatec CSR or Fanatec GT2 (same wheel base just a different rim).
G27 has huge wobble problems on the straights & it doesn't have 360 compatibility and T500RS is way too expensive for a wheel with no 360 support, rubber rim, no shifter, no load cell brake and 1 FFB motor.

If you go for CSR/GT2 with ClubSport Pedals and standard shifter - it'll all cost you just around $500, which is a much better package for less money than you'd pay for T500RS.
