I was doing a custom race and thought - wouldn't it be cool if you could adjust various parameters of the AI, for example not just general things like how fast they are, cornering ability, endurance, how aggressive but also more complex things.

Perhaps even including behaviour traits you can add from a long list
i.e.
- drives clean unless protecting 1st
- prefers to use fuel map 6 than take extra stop
- makes mistakes under pressure
- pushes hard if recently overtaken
- hates hairpins
- pushes harder on the final lap
- gets angry at being tapped will take revenge

Even the more complex driving sims right now only have sliders for AI skill and aggressiveness, usually on a scale of 1-100. This is wayyyyy to specific for Gran Turismo and the PS4’s hardware.

Maybe on a different franchise, on the PS6, but not yet.

Plus I’m not sure why you’d want to edit parameters individually, it should be out of the player’s control what traits are picked so you can’t just fondle the AI to whatever you desire, there still needs to be some element of unpredictability in racing. In real life, you’re not going to know every opponent’s strategy for endurance racing.

I dont understand why do you guys are focusing too much to ai?Gt sport is meant to be for online racing.Single player modes are just here for grinding money.Ofc old gt games focused on single player modes but gt sport is different.Im pretty sure other stuffs like fia races, penalty system, bops are more of a concern then ai.

I was considering saving multiple AI profiles and having them randomly added to the pool, and also being able to download a custom race and AI setting allowing people to set up interesting or funny challenges.

You make some good points though. It might not be in reality what I even want. Just getting a bit bored with the AI. I do online and offline about 50/50.

Just let us choose which cars the AI will be using...
This. Only game I've ever played that has the ability would be Juiced 2 Hot Import Nights.

And if they do implement that, custom race is gonna so good I may not even need GT League anymore aside from grinding credits that is.

One game that I've been playing with that has this Grid Selector feature is Enthusia in its Free Racing mode. You can have a grid of Skylines, while you are in an R390 for example.

This could come in handy if you want simulation races. In the FiA once you reach a stable DR you tend to meet the same faces over and over, and so you'll eventually learn their driving style. It would be awesome if we could adjust the AI to simulate our peers :D
Although I agree that it will be hard to implement, especially given GTS' AI. Maybe in the future

^This too

Speaking of individually adjustable AI drivers, I would like to see that to make it seem that the grid does have some form of skill difference. And with that, let us name the AI opponent, choose their cars, car liveries and outfits, and voila, we have our "Dream Grid"!

Imagine myself racing with Drivatar-esque digital copies of @Tidgney, @mclarenLB, @TRL LIGHTNING, and even putting some ridiculous "alien" settings to an AI named....."Kaede Akamatsu"?!

@TheGeologist

There are often types of corners that for some drivers are an achilles heel and the AI would be slower, more likely to go off and also take worse lines, missing the apex and being inconsistent on those corners, hairpins as an example.

You could also have AI specialise in hairpins, trail braking neatly in and getting a great run out.

But if you mean how would it work with GT's current AI model, it wouldn't.

AC and PC make challenging AI. I don't know why PD doesn't add a tough level to the settings.

I know that AC and PC especially force it a bit by making the AI cars way too grippy in some corners or with wet surfaces but at least it's challenging. In GT Sport, even starting last and with a car from a lower class, you can win pretty easily... That's why I had lots of fun in PC and AC offline careers and in GT, I only play online. Offline is only for time trial practice or unlock cars.
