Nice setup!:). Them welds look good. Are you going to paint or treat the frame with something? My wife would kill me if that was in front of the tv. What's it weigh?

That's a sweet looking set up. I'm a huge fan of the design and the metal. Has a contemporary look to it.

If you don't mind, how much did the material cost you? And also, what kind of seat is that? Where can I pick one up?

@ Novamega: Yes, treating the material with alcohol and finishing it with "Rustoleum" clear coat. Keep the color of this material as I just love the look of it. Going to keep it in the garage from mother nature from rusting. As far as the weight, i'm not certain.. Just added on some reinforcement bars so it doesn't look like this anymore; but VERY sturdy.

@Jojo5: Materials for the mild steel is roughly around $165.00. Seat you can pick up anywhere, just ask for a bucket racing seat.

@Unicyclist: Sorry, everything was custom, didn't note any dimension size.. Will probably do it once I get off of the cockpit =P

Nice work! Looks real sturdy. I recently finished mine and used the same sort of box section tubing.

Definitly need it to be strong, those wheels can pack a bit of force turned up enough

But why guy, i have a couple more questions...
Did you buy the seat online or locally? If online, where? eBay sellers are selling them in pairs for the most part. I love the black shell in the back.

Is it possible you take a couple more pictures of the frame? I'm thinking of tackling this project, and i think a couple more pics would really help me.

In addition, how many feet of steel did you use?

I appreciate any help you can give me.

I bought the seat locally, for me to locate the seat was easy since I work in the automotive industry. I will try to take a couple more pictures before this weekend. As far as the material, give or take about 40-45 feet depending on your height.

but_why_guy, I can't say thank you enough! I appreciate you taking the time out to snap a few more photos for me. They will really help! I'm sure everyone else appreciates them also. And the cockpit is even better than initially thought... The wheels are a very nice touch.

BTW, how long did it take to put together?

Thanks again

Glad to help! After all the measuring/cutting/welding took about 2 hrs per day for about 4 days. So about 8 hrs give or take?

got more detail picture of how to change the gear knob?

Sorry, I didn't document the installation process. I just re-threaded the G27 shaft, and then drilled out the shift knob of my choice and re-threaded that as well. Lock tight is an option if you don't want the shift knob to come out during intense shifting!

So is yourgar knob locked by the alien screw from the side??

Awesome rig, I would suggest some black plastic caps to cover the open tube ends. Available for cheap on Mcmaster Carr.

*RIG ONLY (no logitech G27 & seat)*
