Hello,
Finally got my steering wheel this weekend after hunting high and low throughout South East England.
All I had to do was mount it. I had spent many hours thinking of how to use bits I had lying about the house. I had a thick column already and the first prototype I made was unstable as all the forces go through that one point. No matter how I reinforced it, the design was flawed from the outset.
I abandoned it and started with a new philosophy. Put the forces through four equidistant points/legs as opposed to one thick column.
This is the final effort for today and it works like a dream, solid as a rock . Total cost was £13 for wood , bolts wing nuts and nails.
Wing nuts allow me to take it down and store it easily.
