Depending on whats the end result I may leave my bitterness about not getting to race BTCC with you guys and do what your doing next. (Provided its still a Tuesday ;))

Yeah I should be about for Tuesday :)

Can I ask if we can consider upping the weight abit?

A couple cars I been practicing with can't hit the 1200kgs limit

GranTurismo S 1337kgs
Supra 3.0 GT Turbo 1239kgs
Fairlady Z Z34 1239kgs
Fairlady Z Version S 1228kgs
Fairlady Z 300ZX 1223kgs
Focus ST 1220kgs

I'm sure there will be a few more, maybe change it to 1240/1250??

Also we gonna run a singles or teams? If teams can we consider running different cars (same colour) just to mix it up?

the jump from 1200 to 1250 isnt much.. look at myself and saggy, our cars were so much faster for the weight they had in Btcc (1300 kgs).

In no shape or form are makes and models restricted. Pick a Japanese car that isn't 4wd or RR and go for it! Don't single stuff out! you will be so suprised!

I'll be around Tuesday, so sounds good to get some practice with different cars and see what's what

Chris.. If I can be there. You need to give people time to get on and set cars up and see what they like.

When you want to test cars all you do is race every 2 minutes. Thats not reallly how it works.

Apologies for not knowing team names:

1st: Me and Kick = 250 points
2nd: Kamy and Mole = 191 points
3rd: Alex and Jimmy = 172 points
4th: Sy and Uxious = 155 points
5th: Chris and Mcglone = 125 points
6th: Priesty and Jack = 104 points

Now we can move on! We'll have a testing room around tonigh about 7-8 for a few hours, I'll post here when it's up and where we are :)

Woo yea! Good work knight, was a pleasure being your team mate :-) Not sure if I'll make it tonight, still pretty shattered from watchin the superbowl on Sunday night so might just chill out and watch some tv lol

I was out working the next morning/same morning lol

Btw Nate, If we're both gonna use white RX-7's I wouldn't mimnd teaming.

My thoughts, don't have to agree with me but this is what I'd do.

At the moment I race with you guys because I enjoy the wheel to wheel racing. In BTCC we ran with pretty grippy tyres which generated a lot of side by side and close racing. With the cars as they are, I don't know if that's possible - on Sports Softs with this amount of power, they end up more sideways than anything else, and that makes driving side by side with another person a bit difficult (and not really very fun, don't know if I can be arsed, is what I'm saying :sly:)

I also think the RX7 has a big advantage in the corners. We just did a test at Cape Ring Inside and it gains 1 full second through Sector 2 (the long uphill left), because it takes it at 125mph and everyone else has to take it at 115mph. The reason, is that the RX7 has a bigger rear wing than any other car, PD are probably the only people who know why. Every other car has a rear wing with 20 Aero, the RX7 has a rear wing with 28. This makes it have mega cornering speed and great stability.

I think the other cars are pretty much equal, can't say I've seen much difference between an S2000, a Tuscan Speed 6 or an RX8. But definitely a big difference when you get into an RX7.

So...

If it were me, I'd run it on Racing Hards with No Wings. That way you cancel out any aero advantage a car might have, and you still get a twitchy car, which I assume is the reason people want Sport Softs anyway. So personally I see no downsides, but would be good to see what others think.

/walloftext

Blergh I can't be bothered with making descisions currently, but if we're not allowed the RX7 I'm using the Z34

My thoughts exactly tbh...

I guess the RX7 should be banned then....

Tuned cars have front aero that's why they were banned, I didn't realise the RX7 had more rear aero than the others so it does have an advantage.

Tyre wise we need to sort out as we need to tune accordingly, why the hate for RH's? I thought they worked quite well, on the other hand I like SS too but whichever is gonna provide the best racing is what we should go with.

I really don't want to have to ban any cars, but the RX-7 is proving it'self goddamn fast!
I was hoping that it only had the advantage on faster tracks such as Grand Valley but it completely dominates the smaller tracks which caught me completely off guard. You can keep using it for now until everyone gets tunes sorted but have a backup.

An insight into the RX-8

The car has one strength; extended, medium/low speed, consistent corners. The car just works where the 135i completely let me down.

This includes turns 2 + 3, Dunlop, Bit, Michelin and Coca Cola.

This means that the Mazda will vary across tracks, and is great fun in close battles, although once everyone has their tunes down we may see different.

Beautiful racing tonight lads!

Meh, might aswell work on something new then...
I don't mind racing hards but I know Alex & Chris prefer sports softs

I havnt checked this out but i know there are 2 choices for rear wings on the RX7 spritR the smaller wing drops about 7PP so i reckon it might give less aero than the bigger wing...has anyone tryed the Efini RX7s aero maybe that has lower aero cause its the JDM RX7 vs the spritR (i know both are JDM but spritR is a slightly faster version) and are MRs banned? they might have the best weight distribution but they take alot more skill to drive so a decent FR car can be faster

EDIT: on tighter tracks like authum ring were theres alot of low speed corners the RX7 is probably the worst car to be driving it has massive understeer at low speed but on fast tracks like cape ring its probably the fastest like the RX8

Heh the RX-7 flew round Autumn Ring.

Definately try the smaller spoiler Nate, if it makes a difference then you may be able to use it, but I doubt it will compensate for the huge speed you have on the straights.

Some RX7s were fast at authum ring but they do handle bad in that big loop and sector1 were the mini chicanes are (at least for me) ....im gunna try the wings now

just tryed the wings and its still 28 on the spritR but the efini RX7 typeR (FD) max is 20with a choice of 2 wings both max out at 20

Well I'm sorry but my RX-7 was actually quicker than NAthans, I was following him round and letting off etc to keep with him!. Banning cars sucks ass to be honest.

Do both wings provide 28?

I was actually happy with my car on Autumn ring with no understeer issues, maybe due to getting the sweet spot on my tune the first time round!.

I just don't want to go through a long process of being told that cars too fast, that cars too fast.

If we are gonna be unsettle, then run grippier tyres with no Aero.

Both wings max at 28.....

different cars will be better at different tracks so the RX7 wont always be the fastest the RX8s are as quick as the spiritRs

The RX-8 (with a pretty tight setup I have been testing all week mind) can be quick track dependently, but struggles to match the RX-7 even with slipstream. It's a car I am genuinely good with and can play to it's advantages, so hold the assumption of it being too quick for now.

We did Nurb GP/D after you guys left. I was doing 1:26 in the S2000 and in a Tuscan. I took an RX7 out and did 1:23s, not exaggerating. I ended up 8 seconds clear of Kickstart (not in an RX7) after 2 laps. Imo we are about matched for pace in the same cars, so that's insane.

Try other cars Jimmy, you'll quickly see the difference ;)

As mentioned, Track dependent. Nurb's smooth turns are perfect for the RX-8 and yes it will be quick there.

Just tried a Z33 against an Esprit V8, (Autumn Ring Reverse) they are dead on each other time wise.

Looking for a backup car in case the RX-8 is booted :(

UPDATE:

Managed to better the others by 0.5 in my RX-8 after 4 laps, with it's decent tune. The Z33 and Esprit's times were both set on lap 2 with an almost identical quick tune to each.

So the FR Z33 is 0.1 faster even with a small weight advantage. Needs more looking into.
