Daily Driver Impact on GT4

I've always wished my daily driver was in a Gran Turismo game, and especially so with GT4 and the Pro wheel. It can let me experience first hand how realistic the game is. But what's more, I can see what the car is capable of without endagering myself or it, and even what I can do to it to make it better. I can imagine that after a lot of practice in GT4 with it, it could make me a better driver in real life.

Of course the ultimate of this situation is if, in real life, you race a car that's in GT4 (*hopes for a lot of racing modable cars*) on a track that's in GT4 (*hopes for Watkins Glen*). You can practice for a weekend race without spending money on gas or tires or fees or anything.

I don't have a car, but i'd love to see Dad's Skyline in the game (four door, single turbo, 220 hp+, 4WD and no rear spoiler).
 
I'm happy that there are a crap load of BMWs in GT4. GT3 really did not do well in the BMW department.:(

I drive this, only green. In gt2, it was actually its sister car, the dodge stratus, that i used.

well Im pretty fortunate cause my daily driver car is in GT4. my car is an SRT-4 and I cant wait to play the game and be able to drive the car in a virtual setting. Im one of those guys too who likes to due modifications to his car too so this'll be doubly interesting cause as I mod my car in the game I'll probably be doin things similar in real life. the only thing Im affraid of is if the car isnt represented realistically. in other words if it doesnt handle like it does in real life, or if some of the mods dont accurately increase performance like they might do in real life. hopefully Polyphony and Sony did their homework and my fears have no merit. but bottom line is the SRT-4 will probably be one of the first cars I buy on the game and I'll probably stick with it as far as I can. cant wait :)

I too would attempt to stick with my daily driver as long as I could but there'll always be a bigger, better and faster car - you'll eventually get bored with the meagre SRT-4 !!!

oh ur right I wont be able to use the SRT-4 everywhere obviously but I'll use it probably as much as I can. all these cars wont be able to be used in certain situations I realize but we all had in GT3 and 2, that one car that got us alot of wins and satisfaction, and Im hoping the SRT-4 will do that for me.

Actually the car hydrolocked in a flood & cracked the block nearly in half. it was parted out - completely. The bare frame was cut up & sold for scrap.

my first car, the Fiat Panda, will be in the game. with its stock 45 hp engine and under 800 kilo weight you can imagine i always wished for a "little" more power...
soon i will be able to tune my little box properly :)

i would love to tune the celica in GT4 (though there´s a tuned version already in GT4P!)

Yeah, my friend has a Celica GT as her daily driver, and I've got her pumped to play GT4 (she's not really a game fan) just because of the shots we've seen of the Celica so far. Here's her car at our local autocross.

I agree but the other way round - I dont mind the 206 but the 307 is a minger !
 
206cc = hair dressers car, no thanks lol, about as cool as a vauxhall tigra in pink

Hello, everyone! After a "day off" visiting the Texas hill country, I've seen some beautiful landscapes. More on that in an upcoming thread.

Anyhow, when I created this thread, I knew this thread would kind of have some special and passionate commentary from you all on GTPlanet. If you ask me, you may race cars like the Castrol Supra GT, Toyota GT-One (one of my favorite cars), the McLaren F1 GTR (future favorite?), or whatever. But nothing beats taking a street car you can afford and be able to modify it as you please. When I created this thread, I figured that being able to take your daily driver from real life then take it into Gran Turismo. And I don't think it's all that wrong to take a street ride and modify it to exorbitant, unfathomable levels. It just means that in the game, you can build up your favorite car or daily driver to be a dream car. And if you were insane enough to make fantasy a reality, you probably would. Even if it meant an LSD, Stage 4 Turbo, or whatever, you could be a tuner to your daily driver and make it perform as well as the game version. With all the different cars to be put into GT4, almost anything is possible with any car. For example, I got this Scion magazine from the Houston Auto Show. And at the time, the xA and xB were out already, but the tC was still in production or made its debut later. Now that the tC is out, some people (note how I didn't say teenagers or young adults), will likely buy into Scion's slickest machine. Perhaps if it makes it into GT4 (hey, I'd like to see it), more daily drivers of a car will be able to buy it and modify its performance and horsepower. And for the tuner crowd, it's a nice car. Seen a lot of good reviews for it, but with a curb weight of 2925 lbs, you may want to work on the weight first.

So here's my next question to you all. Is it a good idea to tune up your daily driver in GT4 with tuning beyond recognition? For example, Stage 3 NA to a Ford Mustang and lightest weight possible. Or should players be allowed to tune such cars to such extremes?

I'm looking forward to GT4... as I'm planning to get my girlfriend involved in playing... and this will be helped by the fact that her last two cars are in the game... VW classic Beetle and the Cappuccino (Present car)...

I can't wait to see how much we can tune these little beasties up into something special... A lot of "Cuppa" owners uprate their brakes, wheel and turbo's to increase the performance of the car... so it would be good to do in real life... and also we'll probs sell the car in about a years time... so if it performs well in GT4... the price might go up (Or at least more people will know what the hell it is!!)

I hope they put in the Toyota soarer 1999-2000.

My dad races it every couple of months and I to will be racing in it this month.

So id love to get the comparison between the real and the virtual car on the track.
I would only hot up the car as much as it is in real life to get the most realistic results.

On the GT4EVER car list it says the car is going to be in GT4 but GTplanet doesn’t have it. So we will have to wait and see!

All I'm asking for is an actual 240sx with the KA24, not the sr20. I have one in real life and I think it would be cool to tune it in GT4. And maybe my daily driver a, 94 Nissan Altima.
