I’m hoping someone can help me understand why I’m getting dinged on the daily races. I was working my way up thru the ranks. I only had 25% more to achieving my A rating. That was two weeks ago. Now last week every race I did dropped my DR didn’t matter if it was A, B, or C even if I finished two or more places from where I started. Granted some of those were due to attrition but it’s not my fault racers go off the track or quit I shouldn’t get dinged for that. My SR rating is always S I’m not the fastest guy on the track but I’m not the slowest either. I thought ok maybe it’s just the tracks last week (not my best) so I waited until today to try again and it’s still happening! I’m now down to 75% of A on my DR so I’m going to quit running the sport mode until I can figure out what I’m doing wrong. It’s very frustrating and definitely not fun. Any help or advice anyone can provide would be great. As an additional note no penalties! I try very hard to not exceed the track limits or run into the back of anyone. I may get 1 or 2 at the most but very rare. Usually they are exceeding track limit .005 penalty but that’s it. Thanks again for any help or advice.

Where you start is irrelevant. All that matters is where you finish.

As a rule of thumb, finishing in the top half of any given lobby should see your DR increase, but that's only an approximation.

What actually happens is you gain DR from the people you beat and lose it to those who beat you, but it's proportionate to the difference in the raw rating score between you. You'll gain more by beating players with more DR, and lose more by losing to players with less (and vice versa).

We have a very active thread on the Daily Races:

Are you quitting before race ends?, are you quitting when you see final positions before time is up?
These two things will make your DR drop.

No no rage quits here lol from what I’m reading I guess I’m just not finishing high enough in the field. Regardless of how many cars drop out. I try to be smooth and clean yet fast but it sounds like I need to be more aggressive. Thanks for the response

Ok so I guess trying to be smooth and clean is not getting me where I want to be, sounds like you think I should be more aggressive. Sorry for posting in the wrong thread. Not on here much.

Also, from the manner you've described your situation, to me it seems you're under the impression that DR progression is a linear thing.

Driver Rating is a matchmaking tool, and as such it will approximately load you into lobbies with people of theoretically similar ability. Naturally, as you begin at the bottom, you'll find early progress very quick. It's beginning to flatten out for you because you're finding your natural level

My advice is to stop focusing on your ranking, find your racing crowd, and get into enjoying the driving experience (and hopefully learn something along the way).

Good luck!

Edit: oh, one more thing, relative lobby strength depends hugely on time of day, day of the week and race popularity. GT7 prioritises filling lobbies so occasionally they'll be a little under strength. If you find yourself amongst other fast but not yet ranked up opponents, then DR can be hard to come by.
