Hi! Today I watched one of my old replays, one of them was about an arcade race with the premium Megane in Madrid. The strange thing is that at some point I paused the replay to take a photo and I noticed that my car had a big grey mark on the front. It was like the colour of the car was gone away due to a crash. Soon I will post some photos. The second time I watched the replay there wasn't any mark on the car... does it ever happened to someone else? Sorry for my bad English...

Your English really isn't that bad 👍 you were only off in a couple places and I've been learning Japanese for a while now so I know how hard it is learning another language. I'd tell you where you're wrong but that's hardly the point

I have had this happen in a few replays on certain cars, I can't seem to find any logical reasoning behind it beyond a random glitch that occasionally happens.
So yeah, not really any way of helping you with this since the problem goes away hassle free, but to answer your question; you're not the only one to experience this :)

The only thing I know of like this is that damage only appears if the crash happens -- meaning that if you fast-forward past the incident that causes the damage, it won't be there.

It does the same thing with dirt. It is probably due to the way replay files only contain the instructions for the game to recreate the race, not an actual recording of everything that happened.

I hope that makes sense. It is similar to the way damage is not remembered if you suspend an endurance race.

Well its hard to explain, but the replay is not really "recording". Its more like another race based upon your saved key input. Like the name says its a "re-play". So, the wierd thing is, if you had a crash in lap 2 of your 3 lap race, then watch the replay and fast forward to the third lap, your car will not have the damage because it never showed (replayed) your crash. I hope this makes sense to you. You have to "see" the crash to get the damage and even then it will look different sometimes.

Edit: Morgoth was faster, but he's right.

I know the replay isn't a real "replay" (it sounds so weird). In the first corner I touched another car where the damage was but I noticed the grey mark later so I can't tell you if it's due to the incident. Soon I'll post two photos...

Did you happen to pasue the "not-a-replay" replay when you crashed? Sometimes when I pause the game when I crash, the mark gets bigger until I unpause the game, so could that be the reason?

BTW, that damage looks so awesome! It's like you recently fixed some damage, but didn't paint the car. 👍

That except the black part behind the grill that's bellow the licence place. It looks awful there :yuck:

Yes, I paused the replay to take some photos of the other cars on the track and when I come back to take a photo of my car I notice the damage. I like it, it seems like the paint goes away, from distance it looks realistic.

I discovered this bug A LONG TIME AGO , and you guys have it all wrong , at any point of impact with another car pause the game and you can watch as the big blotch grows * preferably in bumper cam XD* replay or not. IL post a video up XD

Yes, it does appear that that is what happened. No one "had it all wrong" though, as no one knew what had happened in this case, just that there was damage there that was not there later. There wasn't even a picture until just recently. So we explained some possible ways such a thing is known to happen.

Personally I've never seen mention of this particular issue until now, and apparently I've never paused a replay during contact to come across it myself. It is interesting, and further demonstrates just how odd the replay system is, as anyone who's ever tried to take a photo of smoke or flames or sparks or wheels or probably any other extremely high-speed stuff discovers.

Also if you have a crash then rewind back then watch the crash again the damage is added to what has already been damaged making it worse, this also applies to tire marks.

Yeh, sometimes I just keep rewinding the same bit to see how beat up a the car can get! Lol

I thought about doing this when I read that the rewinded replay damage is cumulative (compounded?). Awesome! You can really beat up a car just for fun, without beating it up too bad. 👍
