Stop pummeling me every 20 minutes with the thinly-veiled anti-gun mumbo jumbo.

Ok, improper gun storage bad, I get it.

I know the message is about being careful, done in an exploitive manner (ever seen the D.A.R.E. commercials for Sept 11? Those are rich), but I'm suspicious.

"I didn't mean to shoot Daddie's gun!:("

Here's a nice one. I actually saw an ad in a magazine showing a little girl in bullet proof vest. The message was about the risk your child is in if they visit a neighbors home when you don't know if they have a gun. The idiocy and blatant rudeness of that is obvious. Is it not?

Imagery is everything. I guess.

Yeah man, some of those PSAs are outrageous. The ones that bug me are the ones where they show home videos of kids playing and then tell you how they were all killed by a drunk driver. I know DUI is bad...so does every one else on the planet. Some people don't let it stop them from drinking and driving. So why you gotta upset me for?

You should see some of them here - I'm in NSW but in Victoria the ads were pretty graphic (we speculated that they might be 'snuff' ads) - the highlights were the guy getting hit as he crossed the street with his takeaway pizza (that looked VERY real), a little kid going under the front of a speeding 4WD driven by a frazzled mother and the all time classic, the dozy VW Kombi driver going into the side of the semi-trailer (complete with bonus dummy hanging out of passenger window).

Just the thing for the Sunday comedy premiere.

It's really hard to respect the message of different political/idealogical view points when they put out these ads. Sorry, but you could show guns coming to life and shooting baby seals and I would still be pro-gun. So pbbllttt

Perhaps. It's the day that Speedvision becomes the "Speed Channel".

Ugh...anytime Fox gets ahold of something, it goes right down the tubes...

OH....that's why the name is changing. (I don't get to watch SV very often).

I wonder if they're going to start pre-empting the BTCC with football. :nervous:

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The reason I said that is Futurama...I think they want to cancel it or something. It seems like half the season gets pre-empted by football.

When it was first on, it was on on Tuesday evenings...never got pre-empted then.

You know, being bought by FOX or not, I still don't know why they're changing their name?! "Speedvision" just has a perfect ring to it, their logo is instantly recognizable, and they've filmed so much and said their name so many times, it's going to look kind of silly having "Speedvision" mentioned on Speed Channel programming. I just don't get it. Now it sounds like they're part of the Discovery Network (the Discovery Channel, The Learning Channel, Travel Channel, History Channel...Speed Channel...).

I think Alt's previous quote about Fox applies here. :fdevil:

Does FOX own the Discovery channels?

Not to my knowledge.

I was referring to his quote about how they screw everything up.
Oh, OK, sorry. :)
