dancing a necessity?

I have a question. Do the guys here think dancing is a necessary thing to know when it comes to meeting women? And im not talking about slow dancing because i can slow dance and ill do that with a woman when appropriate. I mean that BS that kids these days call "dancing" where you go to clubs and shake around like a retard having an aneurysm while listening to music that any moron with a keyboard and half a brain can make. I seem to do well meeting women without the "club scene," but some people tell me i would get much more "tang" if i went to a club, and really if doesnt have "rock" or "strip" in front of the word club, i couldnt care less. If you ask me i'd rather be sodomized with a soldering iron than go to a dance club. To quote Maddox if anyone knows his site:

"Let's face it: there are few things in this world more stupid than dancing. Except break dancing, which even pirates and lumber jacks would agree is awesome. Other than that, dancing makes me envy cripples."

So back to the question at hand. Who thinks this is necessary in the world of dating?

Even if I wanted to, I'm screwed... Yet, I can MTB, X Country run, Ice and Roller Hockey, soccer and etc. :dopey:

I'm sure it'll help, but I wouldn't know. I always avoid clubs(though drunk girls are extremely easy.... :sly: ).

Keep in mind...the dancing club girls are most likely drunker than hell.

pick up chicks in libraries.

Erm, you're asking if girls only go out with guys who can dance?

If so, you're really hanging around the wrong girls.

You pretty much nailed it SS69, with your description of the "club scene". It's only necessary to know how to "dance" like that (does that kind of dancing require actual knowledge?) if you're part of the club scene. Otherwise, no I wouldn't think it matters at all. Unless you meet a nice girl who wants to go back to your house, blast Fiddy Cent y0 and booty shake all night long.

That nice girl has "one night stand" written all over her! :scared:

So I'm not going to die alone? :dopey:

Precisely, and so do half the girls involved in the "club scene". Ugh.

pfft. I can't dance. The only time I dance is when I'm drunk and that's just flailing around like a fish. If it's necessary, I'm screwed....although that may explain my lack of girlfriend in pretty much ever.

I can't dance even if my life depended upon it. But then again, I never get any girls. I still doubt there is a strong correlation though, unless the girl really really likes to dance or something.

Same here 👍

Or taking part in your own one-man mosh pit 👍

You dont really need to dance.Just keep your body in beat with the music simple as.

You can pick up girls just by going to the club with a few friends and just sit down and drink untill you see something you like and just talk to her.

I think it all depends on what type of girl you're after.

If you're lookin' for a chick that's into "cool" music like house etc. (?) then you're likely to find her at a club, and you'll need to dance to get her.

BUT, if you're after a chick that likes to talk, take long walks on the beach... you most likely won't find her drunk on the dance floor at 0300, with vomit in here hair and ready to be carried home by the nearest lifeform resembling a male (from the things I've seen it don't always have to be a male... :sly:).

Don't need to dance to pick up women, but it depends on the type of girl you're after. Clubs are great for finding a fun time for a few hours, but a meaningful relationship, I don't think so... :)

Frank Zappa
Don’t know much about dancin’
That’s why I got this song
One of my legs is shorter than the other
’n’ both my feet’s too long
’course now right along with ’em
I got no natural rhythm
But I go dancin’ every night
Hopin’ one day I might get it right
I’m a dancin’ fool, I’m a
Dancin’ fool
I hear that beat; I jump outa my seat,
But I can’t compete, ’cause I’m a
Dancin’ fool,
I’m a Dancin’ fool

The disco folks all dressed up
Like they’s fit to kill
I walk on in ’n’ see ’em there
Gonna give them all a thrill
When they see me comin’
They all steps aside
They has a fit while I commit
My social suicide, I’m a
Dancin’ fool
I’m a Dancin’ fool

:dopey: That's me, that is

I go to a "dance club". I hate the music and I can't dance but that's not the reason anyone goes to a dance club. However, now that I've seen the alternative (Teen Spirit, a rock club) I will probably never go back. :D

When i've had a few drinks i dance like John ****ing Travolta - at least i think i do.
Actually i usually try not to dance where possible, you certainly don't need to to meet women.

I don't think dancing is neccesary, but my girl does, so there it goes.

I don't know if you have seen the movie "Hitch" with Will Smith but the lecture he gives on dancing is dead on. He says that dancing is always a no but if you have to all you do is a little back and forth thing with your arms at your sides and your elbows at a 90 degree angle. No lip biting.

I just found it funny because I had been getting by on that my entire life. I usually tried striking up a conversation with the women not dancing (by the bar or just hanging out) because I have a charm that works well in conversation. Then if they want to dance I always throw out the "I can't dance" line and no matter how stupid I look swaying back and forth my lack of skill is already admitted. Even if the woman only wants a guy that can dance it shows her that you have no fear of getting out there, you just have no skill.

I'm married now so this doesn't matter any more. We even managed a cocktail style wedding reception with no dancing. 👍

Oh, for the record; I didn't meet my wife at a club. She came to my going away party, when I graduated college, with a friend and then gave me her number. Needless to say, he isn't my friend anymore.

Dancing is not a necessity, as nothing is, but it sure helps when it comes down to having a chick or not at a club.

One rule I may give though, If you can't dance, don't dance.

It's worst to see somebody who can't dance on the dance floor than somebody just standing and drinking.

BTW, dancing isn't very complicated, if you are at a club, you just dance a bit with friends, you know, do your moves, then some girls come in, and you dance with her, then it isn't dancing, it's more of....touch me I'll touch you.

Here's a great editorial by the same guy who does the "I am a Japanese School Teacher" series. I think most people here would agree with what he says. (Note: I'd suggest you listen to some good music while reading this, otherwise some crappy song will get stuck in your head. You'll see what I mean...)

As for my views on clubbing and dancing in general, I feel it's pretty pointless. I know myself and what I'm looking for in a woman, and I highly doubt I'm going to meet someone who insists on dancing since those people are generally not my type (but you never know who you'll come across one day...). I don't dance, because I couldn't dance well to save my own life, so I, like any logical person in my situation, doesn't dance to avoid making a complete ass of myself. It's also pretty convienient that I listen to music that in general is very hard to dance to (I'd pay money to see someone pull off some good moves to La Villa Strangiato by Rush. Or any Rush song for that matter.).

PS: I was wondering how long it would take before someone quoted Dancin' Fool. Good job Mars! 👍

You know i prefer rock clubs. I'd rather not know how to dance yet still try at a rock club, than to not know how to dance yet still try at a techno dance club. Plus, if your looking for a one night stand, you can find just as many if not more at a rock club and those girls are wild.

All this dance crap, I don't know, it just sounds like it.

Div is back

Well from what i see everyone else has the same opinion i do. Actually most guys i know cant dance and really dont like to dance but they do what it takes to have sex. Besides you're 16 dont act like you know so much, you're not even old enough to go to a club.

If all that was true, I'd have died a virgin.

What do you mean. Back in the old days, and by old days i mean before 1981, people could dance, and dancing actually meant something. People my age now days, get a few drinks in them and they all think they're john travolta, but in reality they're like this chick:
