A question for the Aussies out there with ADSL 2+ through Bigpond. Do you find you have connection issues playing online while others are downloading stuff on the internet or using the internet?

Yeah, but I'm stuck at my mom's until her broken arm returns to 100%, so wireless is my only option for the time being.

Get 50 feet of Cat-5e Ethernet cable from RadioShack, Staples, or other computer supply store. It'll set you back about $20 US, it might not be pretty running cable through the house, but you won't drop a connection. I got dropped connections all the time when I was wireless, but I got a 75' cable and had to run it from my 2nd floor into the basement up through my living room floor, and I never have any connection issues now. A more expensive solution would be to get a wireless access point to get a stronger signal.

My problem has been solved, that post was months ago. ;)

Can't anyone answer this question?

I'm not an Aussie, but people downloading will definitely impact your connection in GT5P if they're clogging up the bandwidth.

What I do when the missus wants to download something is cap the bandwith for her to 75% of maximum (I have a 10Mbit connection). That leaves enough room for me to play online without trouble. Most routers allow to set this using QoS.

Hi paulie.

As you may already know adsl is dependent on your position from the souse and the amount of traffic between you and the exchange, so at times, you will find your connection will suffers, obviously by lowering the amount of traffic coming into your home you will make a slight improvement to your online connection.

Phillip.
