Daniel Morcombe (born 19 December 1989) was a 13-year-old Australian boy who was the victim of a presumed abduction in the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, on December 7, 2003. Morcombe has yet to be found despite regular media coverage about his disappearance since 2003 and a massive reward.

It is believed that Daniel Morcombe was abducted from an unofficial bus stop under the Kiel Mountain Road overpass in the Woombye district of the Sunshine Coast on Sunday, 7 December 2003. Daniel was meant to catch the 1:35 pm bus to the Sunshine Plaza Shopping Centre for a haircut and to buy Christmas presents for his family but he failed to return. Eyewitnesses reported seeing him at approximately 2:10 pm on the Nambour-Connection Road under the Kiel Mountain Road overpass. The bus he was supposed to catch had broken down a few miles before his stop, and was behind schedule. When a replacement bus eventually arrived, Daniel hailed the bus but it carried on without stopping due to its delay and the fact that his stop was only an unofficial request stop. The driver of the bus radioed the depot for another bus to go and pick up Daniel. The bus driver and other witnesses later reported seeing a man standing close to Daniel at the time. When the second bus came a couple of minutes later, Daniel and the man had both gone.

Latest information towards him here

Truly sad. :( What are your opinions?

Yep! Born and bread Aussie Queenslander!

KK I live on the Gold Coast. I thought you would have been sick of hearing about this kid. It's been years and years and he still makes the news occasionally. He's not the only kid to go missing.

Anyway, I think he was murdered shortly after being abducted. Mum and Dad are delusionally optimistic.

Dingos done it.

I met Daniels brother. Was a friend of my mates... Came over one day...

Who knows what happened..

Yeah. Pedophiles target teenagers for sex, then useraly murder the older ones because once they are older, they can talk. Having close people be pedophiles, and close ones being affected by that person, I know all about it. Got dinner now...will post details later

You learn something new every day.

Ok, if that was sarcastic.......I'm just saying! It was meant to be in a nutshell. :indiff:

If you were legit.......

From Wikipedia
Pedophilia (or paedophilia) has a range of definitions as found in psychiatry, psychology, the vernacular, and law enforcement. As a medical diagnosis, it is defined as a psychiatric disorder in adults or late adolescents (persons age 16 and older) characterized by a primary or exclusive sexual interest in prepubescent children (generally age 13 years or younger, though onset of puberty may vary). The child must be at least five years younger in the case of adolescent pedophiles. According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), pedophilia is a paraphilia in which a person has intense and recurrent sexual urges towards and fantasies about prepubescent children and on which feelings they have either acted or which cause distress or interpersonal difficulty. The International Classification of Diseases (ICD) defines pedophilia as a "disorder of adult personality and behaviour" in which there is a sexual preference for children of prepubertal or early pubertal age. The current DSM-5 draft proposes to add hebephilia to the diagnostic criteria, and consequently to rename it to pedohebephilic disorder.

WTF, there were people born in 1997?

!

A serious thread becomes very un serious once Omnis has jumped on board :D!
I am sick of hearing about Daniel, if they were gonna make a breakthrough it would have happened ages ago. If it happens now, all you find out is that the kid is dead and thats the end of it...oh and maybe the teenage targeting sex addict gets found too but whats to say he didnt commit suicide anyway.

This kid is probably living somewhere in Brooklyn and named Don Draper Jr.

I am sick of hearing about Daniel

Now imagine being British or Portuguese and having to hear about Madeleine McCann every day for two years. And then again every time Kate and Jerry think they've not been in the papers or on TV enough this week.

Where were they when this boy disappeared? 💡

It's worse in Liverpool, they've been holding a vigil outside my local library since she disappeared

Worse than that my manager opened his front door to Kate McCann who said she'd come to take his children! Turns out their other children go to the same school as his kids and she was doing the school run that day!!!

(this is all true)

I can't imagine how much Portugal hates these people. All they want to do is blame Portuguese people and police for everything because they left their kids unattended to go to a restaurant (if you believe their version of events, that is).

Over here, we think they're shameless, self-promoting parasites and 90% of people (personal circle straw-poll) think they either were complicit in her disappearance or outright killed her.

One really quick, insignificant question.........

Can we get back to topic?

EDIT: Yes, some people are born in 1997. But it's always the younger that get the better (no offence daan) :p

We loved the kids so much we didn't care that no one was looking after them.

The truth will never come out, but I agree with your latest post on it. For no evidence of a snatcher in those circumstance are unbelievable imo.

I think "hate" isn't the adequate word here. Because, assuming that they are not involved in Maddie's hypotetical death and not taking into account for a minute that they are the one's responsible in first hand for leaving their small kids alone while going to the restaurant across the street, the anguish of not knowing where your child is something that I believe no one can even imagine, for the exception of those who have been there. So I guess that, at least those who are themselves parents do have a degree of compassion to them (no taking the above in account, remember).

That said, I agree with you about the sickening exploitation this case have had since the beginning, promoted by the McCann's themselves and subsequently sucked dry by media coverage from both countries (some shameful behaviour from side to side there).

What truly happened I guess nobody will ever knows. The only one who ever came up with a possible explanation was Gonçalo Amaral - a former police inspector in charge of the case. He believes that Maddie accidentally died at home, as result obviously, of her parents being absent, and that they promote this whole kidnapp thing to cover it up, because it could (and would as it should) be used legally against them.

The guy was sacked because of it, and was ever since being trying to sell out is theory through a book he wrote - which has been cancelled by court order asked by the McCann's.

What I found odd in all this is:

a) Why did this case had such media coverage from all over the world?
b) What is the apparently proximity of the McCann's with UK's former government (Theirs full-time spokesman was in Gordon Browns staff and is believed that there has been major pressure and influence from UK at government level)?
c) Why, independently of the "accidental death theory", didn't they were charged or sanctioned either in Portugal or UK for leaving their 3 kids at home alone in such young ages (Maddie was 3 and the twins 1 I believe)?

Or Minnesota where they have been looking for Jacob Wetterling since 1989 and have dug up the same exact farm like 5 times. His mom even tried to use it to get into office a few years back, thankfully it failed.

We got all the coverage of the Amaral case too. It wasn't much of a surprise that his book got buried, nor were his conclusions surprising. They pretty much aligned with what most of us (the people I know at least) think.

Good to hear that it's pretty much a universal dislike of these people. Their argument pretty much hinges on there being predatory paedophiles everywhere in Portugal and the Portuguese police being incompetent. That's not a great way to ingratiate yourself to a nation.

I agree with Bullie, hate wasn't the general feeling here.
More disappointment to see that a couple that had many(if not all,I guess we'll never really know)blames in the tragic event got such a massive media coverage, while many mothers and fathers in Portugal(and I'm sure that also in the U.K.)struggle in despair trying to have their children abduction not being forgotten by the media and the Police...just because, apparently they had high connections in the U.K. Establishment!
