I still hate Complex String but it is growing on me though :D

Anyway - The Ruf RGT that you can enter your Ruf Pusher and buy, is that the EXACT same as you get to drive in the last time trial. Meaning that I can buy it stock. Don't do anything to it. Take it to Run & Settings on Complex String and get the same result as in Time Trial. Because if, I'm getting me one. I'm a good 4 sec. off pace for first place so I need a little practice, and what better practice than a just driving round and round the circuit... (And my GF wonders why I never open the PS2)

if you complete the license tests that involve parts of the complex string.. then take a few runs at the time trial, you should get gold... my first time i think i was 3 or 4 seconds from bronze.. and after 3 or 4 runs through (not including restarts) i beat gold by a few seconds... as far as your question goes.. it should be stock.. just make sure you turn of asm and tcs... you'll get it.. its a long track to keep trying, but its a lot of fun, i think

It's a long time since I did the licenses on Complex String so I'd more or less happily forgotten about it (and it's layout :trouble: ). And that IS a nasty long track. I think the place where I'm losing the most time is during the squares. Can't seem to get that one part right.. But - I'm getting there.. Today hopefully.

2.66 off..

Ohh.. That makes a little more sense then :irked: ... I guess ...

Thanx..

Eh. Just pay him no mind, he'll get bored of spamming threads and leave eventually.

By the way, about those square turns... try practicing going around them like they were circular. When you get the hang of it you should be able to take them in a smooth motion, with your inside tires just barely grazing the corner on entry and exit. It also helps if you keep turning a little bit after you get out of the turn so that you have a little momentum for the next corner. Best of luck to ya. :)

About the licenses With RUF on Complex string:
I found the one without ASM and TCS much easier to get gold on than the other.

And the time trial:
On my first game this was the last thing I did. It was so hard.
On my second I was using MOMO Force to drive time trials and licenses :D. I passed TT10 on my second try using only TCS.

And for my wonder I got gold on S-2 on my second try .

I think another place to really cut down on time is the part where the curves grow from small to large. If you don't already, take the small turns as close to the center as you can, which means a very slow speed.

As someone mentioned above, the IA 7 & 8 (i think) license tests are the RUF on the S part of complex string. I think the fastest way through there is to have the inside set of tires riding the red and white on each curve. Being far off requires braking and the weight transfer really messes your time up.

The Complex String Time Trial also angered me =). You're not alone. The Tahiti Maze also did the same...

i actually beat the tahiti maze time trial my first time through, but it took me a while to beat the one on R-8

That's the last part I really mess up. If I look at the Demo with my replay car in it, I enter the first curve 5-6 car lengths in front of the demo car and come out a good solid 2 seconds behind :grumpy:

Tight is the word I think. In the first twisty part right after the straight I'm running flat out in 3rd. Is it possible to go any faster than that through ?...

Cheers and thanks. Nice to know I'm not the only one in trouble :trouble:

Flerbizky, what's your time on the first sector?

It should be around 49secs to get gold, can't remember the others but I'll check my gold replay :).

What's your T3 times (after the loops)...

Managed one shot at 3.12.?? which I blew at the last fu__ing corner :grumpy: Normally it's around 3.14-3.15 which is a good solid 3 secs above the demo car....
edit: I know I'm losing up all the ground through the growing circles... The rest of the track is pretty much down :D

3.10 ?.... 3.10 ? Dont' you have anything better to do than play GT3 ? :D
I'm impressed and I guess I need a little work. But at least I know where I suck at the track.

OTOH, I managed to eliminate Grand Vally Speedway in my 3 attempt with a second to spare while *****ing about Complex String :)

Cheers

:D Ok by me :D

Anyway - It happened just a few moments ago with a 4.49.835... This isn't much below but there's many many places left for improvement, so I think I might do a write up on Complex String. Think I´ve earned the right after a few hundred attempts :D

Cheers - And thanks for helping a fellow addict ;)

the part that i was stuck on a while was the hills near the end. At first i took them slow and cautious but then i realized that you have to haul @$$ through them. This means that you have to be on a perfect line, kind of like the beginning s curves.

That was, for some reason, the one part of the track I had no problem with. I don't know if it's my minds eye or whatever, but the only place I would blow the rolling hills would be on the exit..

I think the single one part that needs the most attention, is the entre to the growing circles. That place means 1½ second (AT LEAST) lost if not done properly... (and slowing down to sub 60Km/h in a racing game ?... But needed if you want to go fast :D )

Congrats! If I remember correctly (boy this was a LONG time ago, sept 2001? ) I think I enter those circles at 30 mph something or even less.

Well after seeing this topic come up, i decided to actually give the last 2 timetrials a shot, to complete them...finally!
anyway, 5 tries and i golded the Tahiti Maze TT, it's not that hard, you just need to drift around the turns right down the middle, never closer to the apex than you are to the outside...

But my real acheivement was golding the RUF @ CS Time Trial! It took me 3 runs to grab gold, i got 1'50:5XX something! shaved 8 seconds off my time that i had from a couple weeks ago. You just need to know how to handle an RR car....then you got it down!

Just short of 50Km/h yes :grumpy: . In a racing game ?... Jeeez
