I bought the Dashmeter Pro app that I've been using for Assetto Corsa and iRacing for Stock Car Extreme and Dirt Rally (separate games have separate apps, it makes it quite expensive but considering how it performs it's well worth it for the immersion).

I've spent HOURS just fiddling with the layout of the pages (you can edit the amount of pages and the layout of the pages in the settings. The layout is done by moving the items around with your finger and changing dial types, label sizes etc.) for each one, each game has separate data made available to the app so the data able to be displayed is different, hence why they aren't all the same.

To scroll through the pages you just tap the screen. I've only got 2 per dash but you can have up to 5. iRacing version has by far the largest amount of data available to the app but I only choose to have the parameters I need to keep it simple and tidy.

You can even have the app background change colour when a specified parameter gets to a certain point of its range - I have my background change from green to white at a specified percentage of RAM range, to act as a shift light but you can do things like Oil Temp making it flash a red background for instance if it gets too hot.

Really adds to the immersion having no on screen displays and just having the dash showing through my steering wheel. Have a look at the layouts I came up with below..

Unfortunately I haven't found an option to copy a basic layout between pages so it took a lot of effort to do each page and there is no option to back up the page incase the app gets deleted or something which is a shame but hopefully it comes in an update. Would be good to be able to share page layouts between friends too.

Anyway, just thought I'd share for those interested in good quality Android based dash software.

I've had this for quite some time and it was a great investment. Everything you need on one screen and it keeps your monitor clean. I bought a tablet just for this app. Highly recommended.

I really love this app, really can't race without it any more. It will be missed greatly when driving with the OR.

I build bracket for my Note 3 which covers the empty space behind my steering wheel. This way the onscreen dashboards are completely blocked from my view and i have no double dashes.

Here's my layout for Dirt Rally

The only thing that is missing in the app is the ability to save different colour dashes

I would like to backup and restore the pages so they can be saved if you ever need to change tablet / phone.

It takes ages to get the layouts juuusssst right, and it would allow for people to use pages other people have created and shared

Any particular reason the developer haven't made it compatible with Project CARS on consoles?

You need to run a seperate program in the background (server) that sends the data from the game to the app through wifi.

OK, that explains it. Although it does sound overly complicated to use an additional program in addition to the app itself.

I start all my racing sims through the Sim Commander interface anyway so that Simvibe works, and you can configure it to auto launch and auto shut down any other applications on sim launch / sim termination.

Dashmeter Pro software opens and closes automatically, as well as my Motec telemetry acquisition which runs in Assetto Corsa too. All I do is bring up Sim Commander and double click on the icon for whatever sim I want to use. The relevant background tasks are performed automatically.

Totally agree with you on that one.

Since the latest update DMP & PCARS is not working any more, not sure what's the cause. So i used Aptoide to go back to an older version.....That got the app working again, but i lost my layouts and spend over an hour to get them back to the way they were.

I had to use my post in this topic to rebuild the entire layout.

I didn't know different games have different apps. That is disappointing. I tried the demo and really liked it.

edit- I tried Z1 Dashboard and liked it.

Bump! I'm interested in this. Need to find something Santa can bring me this year.
But i don't have a tablet and i don't want to spend too much on it neither as we have smartphones and computers in our household already.

I was thinking a cheap android tablet max 60 bucks, just so i can run DMP and put it next to the telly. Can you guys recommend me one that fits the description or what should i look out for specifically? So far i read someone saying that 8GB RAM is a necessity when looking for one.

Just make sure it is running at least Android 5, and has no hardware buttons. That will give you the most screen real estate. Another factor to consider is being able to find a cheap case for it that you can sacrifice to make a mount for it. I'm using a Sony Xperia Z3 (my old phone) and mount it using a case that I've glued to a plate which bolts to my wheel base.
