Data Logger - How to use

You have to save a best lap replay to be able to use it.

How do you get it to work?

It never shows anything saved data to load.

Easy.

Just a few simple steps.

1) Go to Japan
2) Buy a new Toyota 86
3) By the data logger accessory (approx. US$1,000)
4) Wait until July, when it is activated
5) Drive on a Japanese race track either Motegi, Suzuka or Mt. Fugi
6) Download saved data to a USB stick
7) Load data from USB stick into GT6 application
8) Watch your simulated replay.

What is wrong with you? That seems pretty simple to me!

I dunno, all these people whining about this useless application, I think it is a great idea that absolutely is of no use to anybody!! What more do you want from Kaz and his team at PD? You don't expect something of any use do you? I mean, isn't this wonderful innovation something to make you shout from the roof tops about how great it is?

Now just watch as all the PD fanboys scream me down and tell you what a wonderful innovation this is :-(

Stay tuned. The fun is about to begin ;-) Or a moderator will just lock this thread which also proves my point ;-)

Either way, just do yourself a favour and forget about it.

Best lap from where? I have several saved races. I saved a best lap from the garage where you can test drive. I can't seem to find out how.

I haven't seen anything on my stuff the data logger wants to replay either, but may I suggest from a time trial lap in Arcade mode? I haven't done one, so this is just a suggestion. I'll have to remember to try that myself sometime.

Though for what it's worth, I haven't seen anyone yet say they've gotten anything useful from the thing, and that some parameters are screwed up.

It has to be an individual time, and not a replay of a race. So a seasonal event Time Trial, or a arcade timed event.

I have no problems loading a "best lap" replay that I generated from "test drive" in the garage. Just make sure you save the "best lap replay" not just the regular replay.

Wellllllllllll that could be MY problem then. I've never even noticed that description.:dunce:

Got it to work. Thanks for the help. I do not see how this info is really going to help. Perhaps a real crew chief and car engineer could make sense out of it. Still cool to look at but I will never be able to look at it and say 'theres my problem". Hopefully more usable updates in the works soon.

Interesting thought (crew chief: I want Chad Knauss!) but if it shows up at the same time as "realistic" damage....

Driver: "Not enough grip coming out of 2nd gear corners!"
CC: "Why are you telling me? YOU'RE the one who made the last 'adjustment'!"

I still want a virtual 7-post.

I there a reason why we cant use this for normal replay analysis.
Probably because it's designed to analyze 1 lap, and a replay can have more than 1 lap in it, so they just decided to analyze your best lap instead.

The advantage of focusing in on one lap is that it allows laps from different events to be compared. Such as comparing a career lap with an arcade lap. It also limits the amount of data to examine. And finally, it tends to cause the discarding of laps which include significant mistakes which makes comparison analysis less worth while.

I wish the logger came with a base "super lap" that you can compare your time to.
Nice idea but the game's AI aren't up to the task and nothing like that is provided for seasonal event time trials, as far as ghost replays are concerned.
