I cannot get into any servers with the latest update. Grrrr. I have tried both the sixupdater and manual inject techniques.

No bueno.

Got it to work, I see alot of people having the same problem. I see identical notifications for people popping up in servers lol.

Just spent 20 minutes searching for SOMETHING after spawning. Got to the first building, a zombie with his back to me decided to 180 and broke my legs. Couldn't run. Dead. Awesome.

Also, I am constantly loosing items out of my inventory....

full of bugs this one...

It's been smooth for me since i updated to 1.7.1.5

Try manually installing the files again and then start up the launcher/updater. Should fix anything that's wrong. At least that's what i did.

Oh! I finally died... i couldn't wait in the little shed, so i ran out and laid to rest in a not to obvious a spot. I hope to find my body again and pick up my gear... although not sure how long bodies stay in a server. If anyone's interested, its in Lopatino near the red industrial building. Just search around until you hear those flys.
 
Bodies only remain for 5 minutes now. I was switching out my weapons from someone's dead body, had my inventory in their pack while I was deciding what to do. I heard gun shots so I looked around.... and my gear disappeared with their body so now I am wandering around with no ammo. Yippeeeee.
 
Maybe it would be better to reset the 5 minute timer when there is interaction with the body :p
 
Ahh.. well that sucks. I guess i shoulda just dropped my gear.

Had a coyote pack with me (24 slots) and enough medical stuff to resucitate (or however you spell it) an elephant. Also had a tent. Sad.

Anyway, i found at start (respawning since 1.7) that the zombies are easier to agro this time around even while proning. Although it's much easier to lose them. I was literally running around elektro collecting all the gear i could. Just turn a corner and you'll lose them zeds easily. Only thing thats hard to lose is other players as ussual. I got killed twice last night before heading out inland.

My rule is, once you have enough to live off your own; a water bottle, hunting knife, hatchet, compass, clock, wood & matches, and a weapon to hunt with, then im good to go North. Coastal areas are too hostile.


As for a squad (clan), i can make a new thread to organize stuff if you guys prefer. GTP Squad :)
 
Finally have the full game and gave the mod a go.
Already died twice. First time because I was just trying stuff, and lost too much blood in the beginning, so decided to give up.

Second try I collected some stuff (no weapons though), but lost it when I fell into the sea, so decided to keep running until I died.

edit: can't join any server now. I get an "Authentication Timeout" error.

You're going to die a lot, I thought I was quite good at Arma II (or at least getting there) and I still die from relatively minor things, but I haven't played for maybe two weeks now and by all accounts the game is much harder now.

Have you installed the latest Arma II community beta patch? I'll post a link if no one has beaten me to it when I get home but when I first started I managed to get into a few games but after that I had an auth error every time. I installed the beta patch and it was fine again, I suppose I'll have an update to do when I want to play next.

The change log mentions an id fix for arma X versions.

That fixed the auth problem, but now I always get "This server is running an incorrect version of the server side application."

Download and install the Six Updater Suite. It automatically downloads/updates your files whenever patches are released.

Did that to download the mod, as the dayz webpage said it was the easiest way 👍
 
Maybe you have to find servers that are running the same patch then, I suppose. They quite often mention the build they're using in the name, but annoyingly they don't always do so... Makes you wish BIS would release a new actual patch to standardise it but as it is it's fragmented, and twice over by the Arma II version and the Day Z version. I've never had a problem connecting to servers which say they're using the same beta patch as I am but not all servers are up to date.
 
I'm not the only one with this problem, so will just have to wait until they fix it.

I have mine, it just doesn't have any bloody bullets in it.
 
Really?? Damn.

I read something about melee attacks? Someone care to explain, can you now hit Zeds with the hatchet (that would be awesome)??

Well I am still there where we left off last time, so I hope finding something in the deer stands. Otherwise Supermarket ;)
 
Yeah, I've seen videos, you can hit zeds with hatchets and crowbars now apparently but it's quite glitched because they get sent flying... Looks like fun and it sounds like a great way to save ammo, which by all accounts is very important now given that the only decent ammo stashes I ever found were on dead survivors.

And yeah, that last encounter when I accidentally fired a shot left me totally dry because a zed was attacking you and I must've been lagging, I hit it at least five times and it didn't look like it was stopping and I really didn't want you to die because of my mistake so I emptied the one and only mag I had into it!
 
Yes, you can take a hatchet out of your toolbox and use it as a primary weapon now.

I've been hacking zeds with the hatchet/crowbar the past couple of days but i've never gotten them fly through the air like ive seen in videos. They do save ammo though :D It's pretty much 1 shot, 1 kill.

Alright, the newest update changed your IDs to contain a string value. As these were handled as integers (set of digits), these IDs aren't loading correctly and by that causing you to stay locked. This is something that will be solved today with a very tiny Hive update afaik.

As for the others (without alphabetic characters in their ID) that posted in the last 24 hours:
If you are still unable to join, it means it's something else on your side (usually a wrong version, your character is certainly not corrupted).

I wasn't able to enter a server either.

Always getting the incorrect version server sided. Though I've connected to the same versions as I got my version updated to.

So I need to wait too.

The six updater is cool though, way more easy than before
 
I am done with this game until it is stable.

Far too many cons to offset the pros of playing right now.

Hopefully Day-Z in Arma 3 will be a great experience.

My computer comes soon so I can day z it up soon :D is arma going on the steam sale?
 
^Probably not as they make a ton of money now with dayZ. Look for the ArmaX edition on retail, around 25-35 bucks and you get everything, even Arma 1.

I've found a workaround till 1.7.2 is there (whenever that is)

Go to Arma2>expensions, and delete the beta folder.

Then go to the beta patch and install 93965.

Then take the Launch Arma2 OA Beta Patch.exe, proprieties and add to target so it looks like this:
".....Bohemia Interactive\ARMA II\Expansion\beta\arma2oa.exe" -beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion -nosplash -mod=@dayz

get a 93965 server and then you can play. Don't use sixlaucher with this, till 1.7.2 is out.

I'm assuming you meant GHz not MHz! There's a free demo, better yet there's an entirely free version of Arma II you can try out, but actually the free demo of Operation Arrowhead would give you a more accurate impression of how the game will run. You'll definitely be able to run the game, but probably on mid to low settings depending on the draw distance you set. Actually, could you elaborate on your processor? Is it a true quad core or a dual core with the extra virtual cores (no idea what it's called, hyperthreading maybe?)? If it's an i5 2500K or something then you'll be fine, that's what I have. Less than that, you might be ok, but I believe the physics are CPU-processed for the main part (I think it uses PhysX for some things but not everything, BIS mentioned that they're moving the vehicle physics to PhysX for Arma III anyway which would imply that A2 doesn't use it for the vehicles at least). Honestly I don't know what I'm talking about, merely repeating some stuff I've read and heard in a really vague, seemingly-helpful-but-probably-not sort of way.
