Just finished watching the first part that Speed covered. That race is crazy! Reminds me of racing GT5 online. I mean not even 5 hours in and people are doing stupid things. At least it's keeping it interesting though. Can't wait to watch the rest of the race tomorrow.

You mean, like RACING?!

Show me a race where there is NO contact at all, I'll show you some lousy driving rich guys pretending to race their precious daily drivers around...

What differentiates real racing from online is, the level of damage you get IRL is WAY more than online. It makes those guys a bit more sanguine about banging, but it doesn't stop it COMPLETELY...

Just saying, it's a 24 hour race. In the very beginning some of those drivers were making some risky moves.

Better track (less wear on the car), better lights, more cars on track, some more drivers per car in some cases, seems like (as was commented about by Speed's guys) that it is more of a sprint nowadays than a true Endurance. It used to be (and still is, at places like Sebring) that nursing the car around so it doesn't break down is enough to get you to Victory Lane...

Since the re-surfacing, that's seems to be less of a concern. Nice to see those larger 'attachments' surfacing earlier in the race, as far as I am concerned!

Go Flying Lizard DP :) i am a huge fan of them from ALMS and it is the ONLY reason i am ever going to watch grand-am.

A sizable number of ALMS drivers are racing here. Surely Flying Lizard isn't the ONLY connection you make?! :sly:

Mind you, Flying Lizard got their work cut out to make back that 18 lap loss...

Risi Ferrari are my team of choice. Have a friend who used to race with them... broke my heart when they ran out of gas on the last lap at Petit LeMans last year (I was there)... I am looking forward to seeing if they can make the new Italia as competitive as the 430 has been the last few years.

That was quite an end to the race. An enjoyable watch for sure. Amazing how much more I appreciate it after driving it myself in GT5 so many times.

Having spent all weekend there I was looking at stuff and noticing little things here and there. The Bus Stop was the major one. The another one that stood out was having no run off room in turn 1. Also the run offs in the corners are much larger than at the track. Over all they did do a great job with it.

And I agree, they should have put a 24 Hours of Daytona, the aesthetic values of that race at night alone would be worth it.

Also that was one of the best crowds I've ever seen at any race this year. The weather was gorgeous the whole week. It's a shame these cars aren't in the game. I'm just worried that they'd make them like the NASCAR cars which they are nothing like.

I noticed during the Rolex 24 hours that the yellow inside line around the oval has another (2 lines now) added; not sure why though?

That was a NASCAR move. They have a no passing rule on 2mile and up superspeedways where you can't go below the line. They made the line easier to see now.

I prefer the longer chicane, though when running in close to GA spec touring cars, I still can't get into the 1'48's like the qualification time set by TRG for this years race. Probably the old game surface, but the faster chicane should make up for it.

My RX-8 ran pretty much identical to Dempsey's pre-spinout times though.
