Just come over and watch the French driving around the Arc de Triomphe. You'll know why they prefer such cars.

It causes a long black screen before the race and when it finally loads up its usually chaotic. Take for example, some idiot left the pits with 3 seconds to go and it took 2 minutes to for that black screen to load up, we were starting on lap 2 and we had cars uncontrollably crashing into each during the countdown.

I've never had that problem before, I leave the pits 3 seconds before Start and a race at the Nurb goes fine.

So they're dumb for wanting to run a room with the race actually starts in a decent time instead of being stuck in black screen limbo for 5 minutes?

I believe having all the cars in the pit stalls stationary helps the game sync up all the clients. When cars are travelling at vastly different speeds, a lot of time that momentum is translated into the rolling start, causing cars to fly all over the place.

Not really. It's just a lot of left turns with the exception of Watkins Glen.
Even the crashes are mostly dull.

It's fun to race in GT5, though.
I'm not really the "watching" type when it comes to sports. I'd rather be there. I can't watch soccer/"football", though I love to play it.


Seriously, though.. if you ask me, a NASCAR fan would be trying to race out there because it's more life-like. It's "qualifications". The others are just scared you'll pull into the lead on the starting grid. Not like having a lead even counts on NASCAR. lol

For whatever reason, GT5 has a terrible time trying to sync everyone up at the beginning of a race at Daytona, especially if it's a rolling start. This usually results in a long black screen. When play finally resumes, there's usually one person who starts out 2 laps ahead of everyone, and everyone else is crashing. If everyone is in the pits when the race starts, this is all avoided, and the race starts cleanly.

For the record, if I had to pick one subculture in the GT5 online community that is most mature and professional, it would be the NASCAR crowd. Those rooms are always well moderated. Races start promptly and regularly. Troublemakers and laggers are kicked immediately. The racing is always fair and exciting, and the competitors are usually quite sportsmanlike.

yes,for some reason in the nascar oval races, if people are out on te track when the timer ht szero and the race is to start, it can sometimes/often cause a long black screen, sometimes several cars will get the start while others sit still on front stretch,it causes some serious chaos at times.

Drag racing rooms on Special Stage Route 7 are filled with immature players and punks. There is hardly little or no moderation as a griefer would crash his car going 230MPH+ on a crowd of players that are drag racing. Also there are way too many trash talkers and whiners as well.

NASCAR racing rooms in the other hand have strict moderation and most players race clean and behave mature. They are only frustrated because a black screen can cause many problems such as other players getting laps behind (while a few are ahead); unintentional wrecks; the poll standings getting completely screwed up; and black screens can become complete blackouts (you'll have to sign-out to boot back to GT5). That's why a lot of players in these NASCAR rooms will tell you to pit in before the race starts so it prevents this black screen. Hopefully Polyphony Digital will address this problem in a future update.

I don't understand the 'hatred' against people who like to participate in Nascar races.
Let them, if they like. They are not hurting anyone are they?

I myself love a good Nascar race on the Oval or at Indianapolis.
Especially with penalties and damage set to full, Nascar racing becomes so much more than 'just another left turn'. Keeping it clean and fast while racing in a tight pack is a lot more difficult than most people realise (or perhaps they do know, but they just don't have the skills to go into the first corner and keep their car in the lane they were in, while maintaining a good speed). Winning a 50+ lap Nascar race will also force you to work together with your opponents to draft both of you to the head of the field.

Also, if you fall behind, not all needs to be lost. One crash involving the leaders and the race changes completely.
Add to this the actual importance of a good pit strategy and keeping your tires and fuel load at optimum levels, and you will see that winning a 97 lap Daytona race may well take more skills and strategic thinking than driving 10 laps at the HSR where you're only trying to keep up with your predecessor and where only every now and then you'll have the thrill of going into a corner side by side (let alone with sixteen cars - in a three wide formation all moving at 300+ km/h).

All I want to say to guys like the OP is: Don't flame Nascar unless you've really tried (and conquered) it.

NASCAR on GT5 is THE BEST racing format with equal cars, Closest finishes, Biggest battles, Most team work even with rival players you work together when you get out front and settle your differences on the last lap for win.
