The «checks» no replies thus far in either this or the Superman movie thread intrigues me. Superhero fatigue really starting to kick in about now?


I don't really have the time or inclination to go to the cinema, and while I was so-so on the trailers (they seemed fine, but both weirdly oversharing and undersharing) and willing to give it a go even though I can't stand Gunn, I just read the plot out of mild semi-interest.

Nope. No, thank you.

I don't doubt that people are going to like it, and that's a big name to carry on the posters (as opposed to the remaining nobodies in Chapter One) to not make a ton of money, but it seems like it's just the Full Gunn repertoire of slamming it full of characters and pewpewpew and hope nobody notices it doesn't make any sense. And there's one change-from-the-comics* (and pretty much all recognisable Superman lore) that is going to piss a lot of people off.

And I don't mean the Fortress of Solitude being in Antarctica now, 'cos that's not entirely off target but still seems like a weird choice

From one of the reviewers I watch, he said if people aren’t fans of Smallville they’re not going to like the movie and/or will struggle to get through it. I’ll wait for the stream.
