Just two more days :)

For any 360 players who already have it (US) and who have found sound issues, try rebooting your console for now.

EDIT: Looks like the zombie wedding set up to promote the game went off okay yesterday:

Zombie Wedding in London

The Priest looks particularly good...and scary. Shame there were no shots from inside the event as I'd have liked to see the place looking like a wreck before the party :)

So glad I saw this thread, totally forgot about the release of it!!!! Loved the first Dead Island £30 on Amazon, sold! :D

Brilliant fun so far. It is all pretty much the same as DI...though smoother and a little bit prettier.

There are also a heck of a lot more zeds, or monsters as the games calls 'em. By more, I mean they can be found every thirty yards or so. This also means the game is tougher - if you don't believe me, just drop into one of the 'Dead Zones' to have a look :)

The menus are very similar but there small are changes which have improved things by quite a lot.

It really is a beautiful game and the new guy, John Morgan is pretty useful.

For anyone with the pre-order DLC - you'll need to redeem the code before starting to play. The BBQ Sword will be given to you after chapter 1.

If you have already reached that point, then you won't be able to use it unless you start all over again. The Fashion Victim pack though will be available whenever.

Nine hours in now and I'm having to force myself to stop for the 'night'.

I'm sill picking up weapons with cool sounding names regaurdless of if ill ever use them. Its addicing. I found something called a deadeye taser pistol yesterday. Shutup and take my money!

As I bought from Amazon, I got mine in an e-mail. I don't think they come with the game.

And yes Time_Attack there are a load of new, fun sounding weapons. I think the taser should be pretty good as it was in the Ryder White campaign. I'm loving the shovel right now (despite it's boring name) - going to BBQ mod that for the next character. The weapons also change names slightly as you upgrade them.

I also see a whole slew of interesting new 'ingredients'

Send Steam an e-mail asking where the DLC activation key is. I'm gussing you already checked your spam folder, if not, give it a look first as they can end up there sometimes.

Usually if you preorder something with some sort of bonus on Steam you'll get the activation codes with the game under the CD Key heading on the game's library page, but this could be an Amazon exclusive or something. If it didn't explicitly say you'll get it as a preorder bonus then you won't get it, I've never had to email Valve about missing codes because they - assuming there are enough codes to go around, they do occasionally sell out - always provide codes when required.

This has been a weirdly written post, it must be said.

There you go - having no experience with Steam, I didn't know that. I'm certain the pre-order was across the board, ie: not exclusive.

Cheers Time Attack - a very odd situation indeed.

On a different note, does anyone else find the somewhat psychotic elephant calls more than a little scary? I've not seen any animals yet, and I certainly hope I don't meet one of those...

I didn't mind the story. It was longer than any call of duty game ever was. Just the ending wasn't exactly what I expected. it was left open with a strong suggestion at what might have happened.

That was pretty much how it panned out in DI too - then the Ryder White DLC added more to the background and therefore to the story.

There is the intention to do another game, as far as I'm aware - so I don't know how much of a part that has to play in all of it.

I still have a way to go before completing it. Just did the 'Zombinator' mission...which was pretty funny.

I have DI GOTY Edition, never tried the Ryder White dlc so maybe I should make time within the next few weeks so I can jump into it, hopefully there's a few trophies for it too :P .

Sorry, no trophies in the Ryder White DLC. I think only Blood Arena has them as plusses, so not required for a platinum.

As you've played DI:R you should be fine, but Ryder White was a lot tougher than DI - so be warned :sly:

It's really nice though seeing Moresby at dawn and gradually getting lighter.

A member over at the DI forums has found an easter egg which is apparently Borderlands 2 related, called the Toolbox Midget.

In Halai you need to go to the Dead Zone where you found Marcus Villa's toolbox. To the left of that (east) is a yellow shack. Jump into the water and wase around to the back and stand in front of the ventilation cover with the broken slats. You'll see the cogs symbol and be able to enter. Be prepared for some fun.
I was laughing lots - I also think it should be called the Toolbox Imp.

So far I like the subtle changes they've done with Riptide. One suggestion though, I wish we had a more convenient way of choosing which quest will be highlighted on the map. I'm one of those players who likes to trigger all of the quests, so having to go to the menu screen to highlight quests slows down gameplay. Something similar to the layout of the R2 weapon menu is what I had in mind.
