Dear Mr. Yamauchi,

Many of us here at GTPlanet have been fans of this wonderful franchise since the beginning and we love and appreciate all the hard work that goes into it. With the recent release of GT5 and GT6 some of us have been feeling that the offline portion of the game has catered mainly to a very casual player and lacks many of the elements of real world racing such as qualifying, standing starts, a full flag system, pit radios, trophy presentations, emulation of real world race series, scalable AI difficulty, damage and more. In short we feel that GT is lacking the overall atmosphere and feel of being involved in a real life racing series while racing offline.

Are there any plans for GT7 on the PS4 to begin to include more of these real world racing elements and if so can you give us any specifics on plans for the future regarding the offline career mode?

Thank you in advance.

Thank-you for bringing this up Johnnypenso, and well said sir.

Career mode was one of the most disappointing aspects of GT6 thus far, IMO. It just blindly followed the format of previous GT titles with little innovation and a whole lot less content. I'm hopeful that Mr. Yamauchi has grand plans for GT7 career mode..... perhaps some that he can share with us?

At the moment GT's offline racing is just plain bizarre, & I don't like it. Please Kazunori San, make GT the Real Motorsport Simulator!

👍

The request in this OP is from a guy who is known to be more of an Online-only player, even stating in the past that he wished to complete his entire gt6 experience without ever touching career mode. VERY cool of him to create this request for all the Offliners out there.

JP, those of us who know you are of the opinion that you're a real nice guy.

The GT mode never really felt like it had any bite in any of the GT games. So far though, no racegame really managed to make a good singleplayer portion to the game (except maybe the first Grid)...

GT mode really needs to be a rags to riches thing. No repeat races to grind money untill after you 'finished' it. GT4 came closest to this, but still no cigar. Personality to the NPC's you're racing against, as well as other teams - A story isn't necessary though (please no....).

GT1-4 were great for their time but it just feels like many of us fans have grown to a place where we want something more...more "bite" as you say. Grid is taking this path with their new Autosport but GT really should be the leader in this field in terms of the overall look and feel and depth of their career mode.

I have a request on behalf of the less capable drivers for offline content. We will pay as much as anyone else for our copy of the game, so please do not deny us the ability to play the whole of the offline game even if we cannot complete any tests or licences in a given time. Since we are discussing single player mode, it will not affect the enjoyment of any other player, so why should we pay the same and only get to play 60% or 80% of the game. We have disabled drivers, inexperienced drivers, and very young drivers who would love to try the more difficult races, even if they finish last. Someone has to finish last so why not us. Please do not hide anything behind todays padlocks. By all means have licence tests with prize cars, but do not make passing them a prerequisite to the next section of the game. Some of us cannot pass all of them. Gt is a wonderful franchise, but we are not all elite drivers.

Re: nickg07 that is one of the key points of the OP question..... to put it more simply - Mr. Yamauchi have you considered adding a sim-'racing' (not 'driving') aspect to the career mode in the next version (GT7)? If not, could you please, because we as a community have grown weary of the existing 'driving' format.....

Well said:tup:👍

Nice try johnny penso. Kaz could answer very succinctly, this is driving simulator not a racing simulator.
He could say that, but let's let him decide that for himself.

Why can't there be 5 levels of gameplay? They could be: casual, beginner/novice, amateur, professional, and expert. Anyone should be able to access all of these levels, but the times for top prizes will increase.

Like, GT5 was a "casual game" in that the licenses were not required. You could get on and do anything in the game without them.

GT2 (and maybe 6) was/is a Beginner/Novice to Amateur game due to license difficulty and overall races.

GT3 was a more "professional level" (on license tests, at least).

GT1 and 4 were quite expert level in their tests, and many of their races.

This could help online lobbies, as well. If you want people who can run fast, put a requirement that you have passed X level of license tests....

Surely it's not hard to program different levels of AI and timing requirements? (or is it?)

I would like to add that not everyone who plays GT likes to play online or even has internet, so a good offline career mode would cater to those crowds.
I'm one of those that doesn't play offline at all. The AI is an obvious issue, but it just doesn't have the feel of a racing career to me and that's something I think we all desire, it's the reason most of us bought the game I would presume.

The five levels plus multiple sliders for speed, aggression, and tuning capacity for the AI would MASSIVELY open up this game!
It would for sure. There are a number of approaches that would work but the key thing is for PD to recognize this is an issue to begin with, and then give us options to work with within the game, combined with difficulty sliders. Then we can tailor the game to our own skill level through preset difficulty, rather than a random hit and miss with cars that are dramatic mismatches in terms of grip and power on the track like we do now.
