I have just read an article on the internet in which it states GT4 will not be released in europe this year. Instead they plan to release it in the first quarter of 2005. In my opinion this is crap, there have been to many delays and now there wasnt even going to be online play. They stated they had location difficulties but when has any Gt game been released in the first quarter of a year. this just leads me to believe when 2005 comes around they will just delay again until online is sorted which means no GT4 for another year!! Alternatively if they do release it in the first quarter of 2005 we have to buy 2 gt games in a year to have online play.

Shame polyphony digital isn't getting its act together.
Please discuss:

By the way here is the link to the article:

To be honest im loosing interest in GT4 very quickley, Ive been waiting for what seems like a lifetime and still people talk of delays, online play dose not bother me a bit so i wasn't so disapointed when they took it out, but its a shame we might have to wait till the first quater of 2005 to get our hands on GT4 (if this news is new and correct).

I dont see why we have to consistently wait so long, the first anticiapted release was Q3 2003, thats over a year overdue. In past times we have waited 2 years for each GT Game to appear:

GT1 - 1997
Gt2 - 1999
Gt3 - 2001
GT4 - 2005?

That will mean its been for years since the last one and more importantly 2 years overdue!!! i know this one has knew modes and hopefully used cars are back but now its getting ridicolous

Bad move to delay it for that reason, would made much more sense to release a "english only" version and then include the multi-language support in the upcoming online GT version.

Anyway there seems to be some news there. The EU version used to only support 5 different languages but now thats been increased to 13. I'm hoping that swedish is one of the new ones, that way I might get to use Opels instead of being stuck with Vauxhalls that don't exist here. It's DTM cars that they rebadged as Vauxhalls (unless you picked a language other then english) that was bugging me the most.

just found this bad news,

GT4 delayed until early next year

British drivers will have to wait till spring 2005 for Sony's leading PS2 racer but the US and Japan will still set off on time

You might be starting to think that it's the official name of the game: 'Gran Turismo 4 Delayed'. It's not, but just how many times have we seen those four words shunted together?

Hopefully this will be the last outing for that particular phrase because after all those on/off online problems, this time (hopefully) the delay should be a minor one.

Confirming the slip in a statement, Sony said: "The localisation of GT4 across the PAL territories is a huge undertaking because the product is localised into 13 different languages. Therefore the process takes considerably longer than it does in Japan.

"The GT brand strives for perfection, therefore we need to ensure that the localisation and testing of the product is done to the highest possible standard."

So with the official release date now set somewhere in the first three months of next year, Sony have a little more wiggle room to modify their masterpiece and then pick a firm time to finally unleash this behemoth. And you can be sure that we will name that date just as soon as we have it.

LOL true they might as well call it GT4 delayed
But it looks like were going to have to play games like San Andres and Getaway for longer than expected

so the gt4PAL has to support 13 diffrent languages, would this 'increase' from supporting 5 to 13 languages have anything to do with the countries that recently joined the EU.

Not unless Japan uses PS2 games as bargaining chips.

Have they not heard of bablefish!?

Translating, even 13 seperate language,s sounds like about a weeks work tops!

- its just another piss-poor excuse if you ask me. PD are really starting to bust-my-chops

This is really pissing me off................i was searching for the releasedate on the internet and than i found out that:

OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE DELETED BY MODERATOR

I'll be gone from this forum for a while............since there'e nothing left to do but wait...........it really s*cks

We should Boycot the game!!!! If they're intending delaying it all the time they better drop the act..............AND DON'T SELL IT AT ALL!!!

Dirikiyo, learn to lie ;). Like everyone else, you'l buy it. It's annoying, but being a gamer, you should be used to it by now. Still though, a massive delay and they still don't include online mode, but fob us off with replay - extended mode, sorry I mean b spec...

Release before the summer : ridiculous.

Time to chip my console finally. Who doesn't understand English these days???

They need to translate all captions and scrolling texts and that's indeed not big big work (though it's much more than a week, I know what I'm talking about, my job is to translate software from dutch to french) but since GT4 Prologue they also translate all the voices and that's taking a loooooot of time.

It seems that I'll buy Flatout (the game) for Christmas.

its not old news - because its just that bit shocking

not old because it's shocking? Riiight.

Dirkiyo, this is not acceptable language for posting at GTPlanet. You will be receiving a PM warning shortly.

And, on a side note, enough complaining already, everybody. Either buy the game when it comes out, and be happy about it, or don't buy it on principle due to the "offensive" delays. If you're serious, vote with your wallet - the only way that counts. Otherwise, SHUT UP about it.
