What do you guys at GTPlanet think about implementing a "delete" post button for us users. Im tired of accidentally double posting and then facepalming lol!

What's so funny about that?

It's not a bad idea, but if it happen, the mods won't have any work to do :p

Only downfall I see to it is people posting AUP-violating stuff for people to see and then deleting it shortly after like boobs or verbal attacks, but I'm pretty sure they can trace every single post made) regardless if it was deleted, unless they deleted it themselves..

Only moderating staff may have the ability to make an entire post go 'poof!'.

If a double post is your problem - and you have no technical difficulties - do the following:
#Copy contents of second post.
#Delete same.
#Hit EDIT Button of first post and paste in addendum.
#Hit SAVE.

H.

But I can also just 'edit' the post if i where to launch some kind of verbal attack or boobs lol......

If this is the problem. Then I suggest not allowing the delete post button to appear until after maybe 30 minutes or 1 hour....but then again its not really an isue because if someon did post something offensive then they can just edit it to make it go away.

I suspect the problem may be that mods can view the previous edits of a post but when a post is deleted its unviewable by even Jordan. Its wiped from the server. but i cant confirm this.

If thats not the issue then allowing us to delete post would clean up threads..

Once the post is reported the mod see the original post even if it is edited and once a post is deleted the mod can still see the post.

I think it would be a good idea, as long as RocZX's idea was implemented.

like boobs

We all do, AOS, we all do.

I don't think a delete button is necessary. For all the posts I've racked up I would say no more than 10 were accidental double posts due to having a slow connection to the internet.

I don't think it's necessary to have a "Delete Post" option. Perhaps the mods can unlock it only for members who has Dial-Up/56k or slower connections, as that's where most double posts come from.

But if the "dial up only" restriction was used, people could easily lie what their connection type is. Next thing you know, posts will go "poof!" in no time.

And I do agree the copy/paste thing can work. I'm not sure if a delete post button is an entirely good idea, but it could be considered.

I don't allow users to delete posts because missing posts can make a thread appear strangely disjointed. You can edit your post to remove its contents, but a reader coming along at a later time will at least be able to see some record of your involvement in the conversation.

If you accidentally make a double post, just edit your second post with an acknowledgement or apology, or just notify one of the moderators and they can delete it for you. Unless it happens a lot, it's not really a big deal.

Deleted posts and the edit history of a post is saved and can be reviewed by the moderators.
