Department of Rumor Control: Der Alta has retired from not only GTP, but from on-line life in general so that he has more time for his off-line life.

This, predictably, has absolutely nothing to do with pimp_racer's current situation in anyway shape or form.

Needless to say, DA will be sorely missed.

While i appreciated that the work he does here is time consuming i don't think he considers it a job and therefore probably wouldn't 'retire' from here. He does have a real job you know!

No, this is not a joke or prank.

Not this time. We know better.

Keep in mind that DA recently accepted a vice president position at a parrot rescue organisation. When he realized he neeed more time for his real life commitments, something had to give. It isn't quite as sudden as it seems, if you've read his threads on his RL situation.

This seriously sux0rs.... I noticed his, beneath the Sig sig late (for me) last night and couldn't believe it...

Trust me, it's not another prank. Alex decided it was in his best interest to leave all forms of distractions aside (you'll notice even his website came down) to further concentrate on his job.
 
Yeah when I heard about it I had assumed it was something to do with the Sanctuary. Anyways best of luck to you Alex, you will be missed here.

Man, this is kind of sad. I remember when I first joined, I though DA was one of the better members on the forum, and as I remember, he's had that same avatar the whole time. He'll be missed, for sure.

I've known him since I registered. Which was in 2002. Now he's retiring? He will be missed. :(
 
Yes, he will indeed be missed, both as a member and as an admin. He had a great eye for detail and a great desire to make this community a better place. He worked very hard to do so and his influence is all over this huge forum.

It is no prank, and as ///M-spec says, it's not even such a surprise given the continuing increase in demands on his time. Hopefully his other committments will work out well for him.
 
Wow, it's strange to see one of GTP's most well known members leave the board. But, I'm sure he'll pop in once in a while when he has the time.

Nonetheless, best of luck to DA with his new position at the Parrot Rescue!

Thank God we still have you Duke ;) - I will never forget your April Fools joke !... It's still sad though.. Give my best to Alex if you speak to him !...
