Hi all,

I'm starting an acoustic duo with a female friend of mine who will be taking up vocals, whilst I'm on guitar as well as occasional percussion and back vocals. Now we're really hoping to be kicking this project off really soon, so we're going to need a logo. Now, having asked for a favour like this before from the GTP members, I have no doubts that what you bunch of people produce will be nothing short of spectacular.

The title of our duo is called "Skimming Stones", so if you could do a logo based around that sort of area then that would be fantastic. Please, don't hold back with it, feel free to go completely nuts! Thank you all so much in advance.

I'll try. I need to practice Adobe Illustrator anyways.. Don't expect much lol.

Also, I recommend asking the people of NeoGaf. There are alot more people plus more people that have graphic design as their profession/study.

Much appreciated Phil, looking forward to seeing what you've got. 👍

Hi, Tom. How will you be paying us should we decide to provide you this service?

I can pay you in a million Vietnamese dong, or an "I designed a logo for a small acoustic duo on GTPlanet and they're using it!" bumper sticker.

I did do one but it involved an image from the net, and then realized it might be copyrighted so I didn't post it. It looked more like an album cover than a logo. It wasn't really original which is what a logo should be. I'm not good (terrible) at graphic design nor am I much of an artist though I also draw stick figures really well.

I can be decent at it. I jsut say that because getting a logo sort of defines your band. Seeing as I'm in several I hate when people don't take it serioiusly especially when it means something to the OP. That's all.

A Logo is not the same as an Album Cover.
Here are some examples of logos - and used on an Album cover.

The famous 'drop-T' logo of you-know-whom:

Good vibrations:

And some examples from Floyd. Early logos were very sixty-ish - and they evolved it:

I did some doodling for you, Tom - but unless someone comes up with something you like, I'll throw it in here later.

My five-minute job (bad typeface is bad):

The last two posts have intrigued me greatly, I'll have a word with the singer and see what's what. 👍

Here was my rather unimaginative quick photochop, not really a good logo though. Thought a simplified drawing using the same concept would be kinda cool for a logo though.. SlipZstrEm's dotted i's using skipped rocks is also a cool idea.

I definitely like it, but something is missing.

I could see that working more as an album cover than a logo though, try just using that font with no background image in a fancy position and see how it turns out.

Okay. I love that. Not sure about the colour - but the metaphors are going in the right direction.
No point in me, anyway, trying to improve on that.

Good job, Danny. You never quit, do you?
