When I first got my DFGT I was thought it would make me a better driver. Turns out it made me suck, I had all assists turned off and just spun out every time. I then turned TC on 5, AS on and stability control on medium. Set the FF to 7. Now I have more fun racing with the wheel and am better on turns. Takes time, also it will truly show you how some cars handle. 458 Italia is my Fav car on the wheel and I have about 70 cars and mos all of the Ferraris

The problem there is that using those aids comes at a cost. The aids keep you facing the right way by adding an AI element but it's inefficient and overall your speed will be lower.

Learn to drive without the aids and you'll spin a lot more but once you've got past that you'll be a better driver for it.

Not sure if this is ''common sense'' for everyone, but a good wheel set-up is critical to get the full potential out of the exp.

I do not have any friends who play racing games or have a wheel, so maybe most already do this, but when I first got my wheel, I used it on a small table with the pedals on the carpet..........it sucked.

Once I built a better set-up, the exp went from ok to ''I can't get enough of this''

Proper leg and arm angle also are critical.

Just my thoughts on the matter.

Just leave it default. Took me about a week or so before I started to beat my controller times

i was playing the other day and was able to adj. the tcs now it wont let me, all it lets me do is brakes and ams. where can i go and change that sucks i cant change it now while playing

i was able to adj. my tcs before but today for some reason it wont let me adj. it any more its grayed out all it lets me do is brakes and ams thats it. what can i do to fix this.
thanks

i too am a DFGT rookie, got it 2 days ago, maybe 10-15 hrs on it at most (and a good majority of them were a-spec/dream car champ/indy/FGT just so i could get used to the force feedback and such.

today, i started messing around in practice and having great improvements. i used the settings straight out of the box, found a lotus 111r '04 in my garage, put racing exhaust, oil change and racing softs on, took it to Tsukuba with the ghost on and started putting laps down. takes lots of the frustration of the AI out of the game when your only racing yourself. you can actually 'see' yourself getting better or where you can improve yourself at. so far, ive trimmed 15 seconds down and actually put in a lap that i could'nt beat with my controller.

after about 2 hours of that, i read this thread and found you can adjust it (who woulda thunk it?), decided to play with that alittle to try to get the "user break in" period to speed up (yes, im impatient). turned the feedback to 3, and power assist on with amatuer mode on and seems easier to control, but my laptimes are staying around the same. seems it might actually be easier to get used to using the stock box settings... just my two cents.

good luck!!

The power assist just buffers overly jerky motions... but also remove a degree of precision...

My best tip is to not let hte force feedback control you, you should be controlling the and fighting the feedback as feedback is a reaction, you need to anticipate and correct.

My biggest issue with the wheel is a really sharp turn when you over-steer to just make the corner if you went in a bit hot, it's return to center is very slow and you need to steer it back, it's a rather unnatural feeling...
