I'm sure Max is aware what he's getting into, but long term I just can't see him getting on well with a BOP formula.

Why that?
We've seen how frustrated he gets when his Red Bull isn't as quick as he'd like, or if he feels something is wrong with it; I just can't see him taking it well if he wins a few races and the car is BOP'd out of competitiveness for the next few events.

I mean, I'd like to be wrong, and I'm not a fan of BOP racing, so that probably plays into it as well. I'm just not convinced Max is the sort to play along with that ruleset.

Whatever car he's running in, I'm sure the organizers will make sure it's competitive with BoP. Kind of like how Ferrari has gotten favorable BOP at LM for 3 years straight, because they're Ferrari

Ford is joining the WEC in 2027, and considering Red Bull's partnership with Ford, I think this is the ideal situation for Verstappen to finally go racing at LM.

Alonso's F1 contract ends in 2026, so they could be teammates, something they've talked about before. Make Alex Palou the third driver and you have an unbeatable lineup

Also, I don't see Verstappen racing full time in a series after his F1 career. He'll just do the fun, big races

Eh, the penalty point standings would suggest otherwise for Piastri. Oscar's currently ranked 4th, all for collisions or erratic driving.
Yeh, but Silverstone was a total stitch up - it was not unexpected or unpredictable and in fact the opposite. The lights on the safety car going out halfway down Hangar Straight was unexpected. The main contributing factor was Max reacted late and went past, this also started a chain reaction of concertina braking patterns. In the end the penalty was on the outcome rather than the action and it was largely for the benefit of the $port and $pectators at the track. I spent thousands of $ to be there and the atmosphere was amazing.

However my concerns for the integrity of the sport and it could appear a disgrace on the sports consistency, particularly to see the very next race they return to a more usual function of switching off the safety car light much further away form the end of the lap so the leader has more space to slow the field down and prepare the restart.

Yep, the Ver$tappen fan$ will probably be appealing to the $port for $ure.

Kinda figured this was coming, I mean Honda has basically been a HUGE reason for Yuki even being there (and probably for the rest of the season) so this is hardly news considering Ford is here for 2026. Sadly with how 'Nando and The Owner's son appear to still be taking up the spot at Aston Martin (Unless Honda convinces them to have Yuki as a reserve who then replaces Alonso), I see Yuki's F1 career at an end after this season..

Which then begs the question of if Yuki Continues racing and where.

- Super Formula? If I'm not mistaken, this is where he came from, right (or am I already an old man getting him confused with Awasa?). I'm sure Honda would make run for him.
- Indycar? I mean Honda's original prodigal son Sato is in the twilight of his career (and having 2 Indy 500 wins isn't a bad way to end it) soooo, perhaps he could find himself there (if he's fine with the whole ovals thing, which won't happen alot...for now...)

They may just send Yuki back to RB, as none of the F2 Red Bull juniors (Goethe, Marti, Lindblad) really look ready to step up. Maybe they go outside their own setup and give someone like Alex Dunne the drive (as he isn't getting into a McLaren seat anytime soon).

I expect Yuki will likely go where Honda wants/needs him, didn't really think he was going to stick around once they were officially out of the team's engine room. And let's face it, anyone in that second seat is considered disposable to RBR no matter what they may say to the contrary.

It's widely expected that Lindblad will get the seat, leaving Lawson and Yuki to fight for the 2nd seat. I have no doubt that Lawson will stay there and Yuki will be out.

A Lawson/Lindblad team would be an absolute smashfest. I kinda hope it happens.

I have liked Tsunoda in F1 but if I was to critique him, I'd say he's too much aggression and not enough finesse. Without Honda underwriting his support within F1, it's tough to see where he goes from here.

RIP Hadjar‘s career

Actually, because of the new regulations next year he has a better chance to do well

Everyone will be learning the new car. Verstappen mastered the current RedBull design, but it'll be something completely different next year that him and Hadjar will both have to learn

It might be that a clean-sheet Pierre Wache design, rather than a design direction no doubt still influenced by Adrian Newey - as 2025's car probably is, may not be tuned as much towards how Verstappen likes his cars. Redbull have definately crippled themselves as far as having a 2nd driver who can take points from rivals with how they've evolved their most recent designs. Its a sound direction if you are just chasing the WDC, but if you want the money that comes with the teams championship finishing order, you you need both drivers scoring decent points.

I find it interesting that Helmet Marko thinks LeMans is too dangerous for Verstappen, but not the Nurburgring 24 hours

LeMans is faster, but a big portion of the track is just straights

And most importantly, I think the talent of the drivers in the Nurburgring 24 is more suspect at the lower levels then what you have at LM

I feel for him, it’s like losing a family member. We lost ours almost exactly a year ago and it was tough, their lives are way too short.

I’m a fully paid up member of the OP81 fan club but still a bit surprised. I guess everyone likes a winner.

Which is very much an F1 centric fanbase.

That's usually how polls work anyway.
So you think if you asked the entire worldwide audience you’d get about the same outcome? Oscar on 1, Lewis on 4? Sure.

This won't help stop the online war between Team Oscar (who already think Brown doesn't like Piastri) and Team Lando

“I went for dinner with Zak near MTC [McLaren Technology Centre],” said Palou. “Zak told me it was not his decision to hire Oscar. He said it was the decision of [then] team manager Andreas Seidl.

The drivers are much too nice to have a proper rivalry on or off track, so the fans will just have to create one themselves

I mean, that statement is 100% true b/c Andreas was the biggest supporter for bringing Oscar to McLaren where as Zak was probably looking at Palou for marketing purposes; an Indy winner in a McLaren vs. young, unknown Oscar.

Personally, I wouldn't let any comments from Palou or Brown regarding this specific dispute serve as evidence of favoritism between the other drivers. They've had this conflict going on since 2023, statements are going to be more than likely reflective of that time.

The Aus GP next year is going to be interesting. Both Lando and Zak aren't going to be the most popular people there.

Also makes it really awkward for Zak Brown considering he also part owns a V8 Supercar team. lol
