Rebel Against This Empire!!!
I have heard reports of the Fanatec's standard pedals being unreliable and breaking easily. On the other hand, it has a stick shift w/ clutch, and (better?) force feedback. I'm not sure if I should shell out $50 more bucks if it'll break after a few uses. Any ideas?

I've ordered a DFGT, hopefully will come tomorrow. Already worrying that I should've gone for the Carrera!

Mind you, I did get my DFGT a good £50 less than a Carrera would cost me.

You're right, you'll love the DFGT though! I had mine for a week before ordering a fanatec. I'd see how you get on with the logitech and then skip the Carrera for a GT2/3 cos you'll only upgrade to one of those in the end anyway!

Hi, I have Carrera and had a problem with the Fanatec gas pedal but i contacted them and new ones came after a week. I don´t have a DFGT (had DFP a long time ago) so i can´t compare but i think Carerra should be better. Or you can buy cheap DFGT and after some time go for G27, GT3RS (GT2) or that Thrustmaster

The grip apparently is fine, AND (somehow) you can use the dials. I am buying the carrera. I think i will contact them about selling me the CSP instead of the standard wheel.

I'd love to-BUT the Carrera will probs be Christmas next year at the earliest- and I'll have to wait till adulthood till I'll be able to afford the GT2!!!!

But seriously, my DFGT is coming from Germany, I really hope it comes tomorrow, cos otherwise it won't come Saturday (New Years Day), or Sunday, OR Monday (Bank Holiday). And then Tuesday is mu B'day...but I go back to school 👎👎👎

I'm in the same boat. Do I go out and buy a DFGT or for just a little bit more order a Carrera Wheel? In Canada, DFGTs are going for around $170CAD + 13% tax (~$192) The Fanatec wheel is $160 plus shipping ($26), but I might get lucky and not pay tax on it when it comes across the border. Then it would end up CHEAPER than a DFGT!

God only knows when the Carrera would actually show up though, it'd probably be months before it was shipped here.

It's not the price, it's the fact that there are reports of the pedals failing after a few days with no permanent fix.

Fanatec will replace your pedals if they are faulty.

I vote Carrera for the larger wheel diameter, h-gate shifter, and better feeling pedals.

Well after reading all of the messages about shipping, and support at
Fanatec - I decided to go with the DFGT for my first Wheel.
Best Buy had them on sale for $100, and it did not look like I was
going to be able to find one, but someone at a store near me found
one, and I am going to pick it up on Sunday. Now the plan is to
pickup my AK Rocker that I bought used next week, and start
building my PVC rig...

Strange how over there (USA) the Carrera is sort of head to head with the DFGT, but over here in the UK the Carrera is more at the price range of a G27. I am pretty confused myself as to which wheel to buy.

£95 DFGT, £160 Carrera and £180 G27

If it comes down to Carrera vs G27 I would suggest go with G27. Helical gears are a big improvement over standard gears. G27 has descent shifter and good pedals as well which can be mod.
Still when it comes to down to console sims like GT5 DFGT does the job. I like DFGT button and D-pad placement better than both the Fanatec wheel and G27. One advantage fanatec wheel does have is the ability to make adjustments on the wheel since some reason PD refuse to give us in-game adjustments that almost every racing game gives the player today.

DFGT pedals are more prone to failure than the Fanatecs TBH.

Really? I must have missed entire thread pleading for solutions to failed DFGT pedals.... and as a last resort you can always just walk your DFGTback to your local retailer and return it and get yourmoney back.

Well the Fanatecs have a two year warranty IIRC, not sure about Logitech though. I wouldn't be terribly concerned about it.

2 year warranty means diddlysquat if you are continually having issues and having to ship product back and forth.

For the money I would just buy a G25 or G27 off eBay and pocket the savings. This coming from a Fanatec GT2 owner. I have had so many failures with the wheel, I am now dreading the delivery of the pedals.

And as youhave seen at a discount price the DFGT as a new purchase cant be beat. If you still really want the pleasure of the clutch and shifter, return your DFGT to Best Buy and buy a G25/27 off ebay.
