So, it's really annoying me - there's either no dead zone or a zombie living within my wheel.

I called Logitech today and the woman said "Yeah well...uh...I don't know, ask your game shop if it's not intended". Great. She also said that the wheel isn't getting too warm if I can't make my breakfast eggs on it. Well...Logitech support.

With that being said: take a look at the video and tell me if that's normal. I let go of the wheel while standing and holding it still, right in the middle - you can see it on the tv as well.

Any way to fix this? :\

Mine has never done this when I'm not moving (ps3)....something is def up. Unplug everything including the USB. Turn on the ps3 or CPU and plug it in a diff USB slot...no idea if it will work but I've had success with other devices doing this.

Oh, the joy!

Yet - that's causing me to stay focused. More or less.

Tried the other USB port just before making this. :D

If I am stationary, the wheel will stay still. If you are belting down the race track and you let go, the wheel will beat itself up!

it doesnt effect me as I dont let go. What you are experiencing in the second video is normal. The first video I can't make out if you are rolling forwards or not. If you are rolling forwards I'd say this is normal or the same as mine anyway.

There is definitely something wrong with your first video, in my one, if I'm stopped, the wheel and the car in game doesnt move at all. If you recently bought this wheel then it is a good time to get an exchange for a new DFGT.

The second video is normal, just dont let go of the wheel, but it is wierdly really moving too fast and too strong. Maybe there is really something up with your wheel.

Logitech told me it's broken and asked me to get a new one from the dealer. Well, I did and it's the same. :P

And no, I wasn't moving in any direction in the first video - so I guess it's really ok...and enjoy my new wheel, the other one was 2 weeks old already. /o\

I dont think there is anything wrong at all. It depends a lot on what you are driving as well. I was in the Volvco C-30 or what ever it is and I was able to take my hands off the wheel and there was no or next to no oscillation. Take our one of my high powered GTRs with stiff sus and it goes mental

I'm experiencing the same thing.
A little dissapointed.

Only when I put it in the middle it doesn't oscillate.
Return it?

This is normal if it doesn't oscillate at dead center. This oscillating is cause by the fact a ffb wheel can only add force in one direction at a time unlike a real steering wheel. A real steering wheel center itself when the forces from both sides becomes equal. It's more tricky for a ffb wheel to center itself. There are ways to reduce oscillating but often have draw backs as well. For example increase the ffb center spring dead zone or increase dampening strength.

I know the T500 is 4 times the price, but how did they solve it with that wheel?

I haven't tried T500 myself but I've read it centers itself better (no ffb dead zone) than Fanatec or Logitech wheels. It has better hardware /Hall sensor. Fanatec will soon release it's own high end Elite wheel.
added: From my understanding the Hall sensor gives the wheel more accurate information (better resolution) as well the wheel has some built-in ffb hardware so doesn't totally depend on the game's software.

Are you driving the RedBull X1?

The force feedback goes crazy on that car, especially on the straights. It's fine, you should be worried if it happens on other cars.

If I were you and this was only happening when stationary (which rarely happens in a racing game) or when going particularly fast (which is normal), I wouldn't worry too much.

Also if it only happened in the X2010 that would be a bonus for me, a great incentive to not use it!
