Hi there,

After overheating a DFGT and returning it in-store i thought i might aswell take the plunge into the wallet and just get the G27. I did but it is a 'special order' item here in New Zealand so have been waiting the last 4 weeks (after shipping delay) for my beloved G27 whilst suffering with this DS3.

What i'm curious about is what to expect out of the G27, yes i'm aware of not being able to map the horn etc.. That doesnt worry me, what i'm more interested in is the general feedback and feel of the wheel/pedals, and should i just expect a DFGT wrapped in leather with H-shifter or will there be noticeable difference in the feedback etc..

So yeah anyone who has taken a similar or the same leap in wheels, is it like going from the ds3 to a wheel or just a few subtle differences wrapped in leather..
Appreciate any feedback as i'm so keen to try this thing out and it's frustrating not having it here yet so maybe i can experience it through your testimony lol... Cheers 👍

Your DFGT over heated?? Is this a wide spread issue or what? What FFB settings did you have it on?

Also, the G27 has dual motors and I bet an overall more solid build, I would expect a more realistic, connective feel between you, the wheel, and your sim car, as well as more accurate FFB and probably even stronger, but I could be wrong - logic says I'm right and for your sake I hope so, but I've also read that GT5 doesn't support the G27 to it's fullest, though I've just read that's in regards to the button mapping and shifter, hopefully the FFB is still all it can be for the G27.

I read somewhere else that you can map the buttons on the G27, or at least "configure" it w/ the Driving Force Pro menu in GT5.

I'm getting a DFGT soon, can't wait, and I read that it feels much like a G25, so I'm curious what your thoughts will be if you do get the G27 vs. what you remember w/ your DFGT.

Please, do keep us posted!

If my understanding is correct, PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong. The 6 face buttons on the wheel don't work in GT5. Even though they (2 of them) do in GT5P. Also, the L3/R3 buttons on the shifter pod do not work? Those are the far left & far right of the 4 buttons below the D-pad.

For the G25 I have the 2 face buttons for Look Left/Right. L3 initiates the RA Functions and the D-Pad navigates.

So yeah, PD/Sony screwed over the G27.

The pedals will be the biggest improvement.
Try some PC sims Rfactor etc, to see what it can really do.
GT isn't the best advert for force feedback.

Edit Dave.

2 buttons out of the 6 work.
They are Flash lights and look back.
I'm pretty sure they can't be changed from that function.
They other buttons you mentioned, your right about.

Yes button mapping don't work for the G27, like i stated before im not interested in button mapping. Please don't turn this into a g27 button mapping thread. ( Not a personal attack Dave i mean people in general )
I'm more after comparisons between the 2 wheels from people who have owned both or just general G27 reports from current users with GT5.

To the guy who suggested try with the PC sims. Thanks yeah im aware they are at bit more accurate at presenting FFB, i will shell out for iracing sometime in the near future. Cheers

Hey man,

Just FFB set at 6, but me and a friend had a rather lengthy 5-6 hours drift session on the 2nd day of owning the wheel. You could smell that motor burning away, it just didnt calibrate itself anymore, buttons worked but wheel didnt calibrate.
Gota run to work but definitly report back on the differences between G27 and the DFGT, the DFGT was good while i had it, you will enjoy it lots!!!

If Logitech knows about this issue I imagine they will rectify it, it'll be interesting to see if mine has any issues, but it doesn't seem like a pandemic, so hopefully it was just a small batch or something.

Yes, please do post your findings.

I jumped from the DFP to the G27, which is a pretty similar jump to yours, so I'll give you some impressions.

The wheel is faster, quieter and more responsive. It has a better feel in general, more "realistic" thanks to the metal and leather. It's larger than a DFP, but smaller than the MOMO in my car. The paddles are much nicer than just the buttons on the DFP/GT.

The pedals are WAY better. Heavier, better feel, better response, all around better. Plus you get a clutch.

The shifter is awesome, I like that basically all the buttons are located on it, it feels good, mounts solidly and easily and basically is just fun to use.

I think you'll be happy with it, it's a nice unit and I like mine alot.

There's actually a pretty big jump just from the DFP to DFGT alone that I can tell, so yours was a much bigger jump than his; the DFGT has been compared very similarly to a G25 in terms of FFB, feel, and control, though having a slight edge in possibly overall feel and control due to the pot. better build. I heard the G27 is a step up from the G25 in terms of smoothness, feel, and even FFB due to dual motors. So not so big from - if much at all (though I haven't personally tried either of them for comparison yet) DFGT to G25, prob. an apprecibale but not too big of a jump from DFGT to G27, but I think prob. a pretty big-huge jump from DFP to G27.

Oh sure. It's just impressions anyways.

No no i don't think it's a pandemic fault in the DFGT's, more like a one off freak occurence. I wouldn't worry about ur DFGT, they seem pretty solid none of my friends have had issues.

To Gunstar : Hey thanks for reply, that's pretty much the kind of reports i was after ( people making a similar leap and their impressions ). Thanks again.

Anyone else with any similar reports would be more than welcome while i count down the days till delivery.

Instead of starting yet another G27 thread, can someone please tell me if the paddle shifters work with GT3 and GT4 thanks...I'm going to sell my DFGT if they do
