I think that boosted my chances of getting it a lot! I'm just curious on reliability and such, I've had a DFGT for over a year now and it's like I just opened it's box up and pulled it out, except for a little dust, I haven't had a single major problem with it.

Also, just clarifying, the T500RS works with PC specifically iRacing right?

I'm pretty sure all wheels would work with a game like iracing, surely though, there's a website with a specific list of supported wheels ect?

My opinion on this debate, the dfgt is a good but of kit if you like having a lash every now and then.

I own a g27 in a cockpit setup and it suits me quite well it does what I want the only thing thr I hate is the inability to use it to drift the force feedback annoys me.

I havnt used a thrust but I wouldn't spend the 1000 odd dollars for it. Simple. I just can't see the point. It might be unbelievable but again it's all about the money for me.

Yes, I can see that too, it basically 'is' $1000, even with some bargain hunting, once you include the shifter, I just found a place (techbuy.com.au) who'll do it for about $950 delivered to me, wheel and shifter, but that's $700 more than the G27, It's hard for me to think if the T500 could possibly be worth almost 4 times as much. Who knows.

And I don't think I could import it either, the power adapter might be smart like a laptops for example, and I'd just need an adapter, but otherwise I'd need to find a local power supply, and have the wait time as well.

UPDATE: Bought a 'used once' Logitech G27 for $220! There was one a bit further out for $200, but it wasn't 'as new' (or it was used more), I mean its a high quality wheel, so it didn't show marks or anything, but this guy got his as a gift, used it once, so yeah.

It was only a saving of $25 from the new one for $245, but that'd take more time to get here, and instead of it being G27/$250x4=T500RS+TH8/$1000, this pretty much makes it x5, and I don't care how realistic the T500RS is, 5 times the price isn't worth it... For another year anyway :D.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this thread, I hope it can still be used by others to debate this three price brackey, wheel trio.

Is it worth buy a g27 second hand? Reliability and all, I dont want to spend £150 and then it breaks after a month

Two things, the sale was on the quality of the device, so if I inspect it and it looks even slightly used, deals off, he said 'used once' so there is that factor.

Also, Logitech products are incredibly reliable, notoriously as well as my own personal experience with them. The worst case scenario, is that it may be slightly scuffed on the pedals, but as long as the wheel and shifter look pristine, I think I'll still pay him.

Also I'm selling my Driving Force GT (which I can't advertise here because I'm not a premium member), for about 75-80 pounds, or $125AUD, so if I can sell that, then this is more of an upgrade cost. Upgraded wheel, peddles, shifter, paddles, with only a minor loss in convenience for in game adjustments (which can now be mapped so it's all good).

The only factor to consider is how long the owner has had it. I have had my G25 basically since it came out and well its pretty worn out. The wheel has lost about 30% of its FFB. The wheel has no major common problems.

To be honest, if the G25/27 didn't have the big deadzone it would be a fantastic wheel.

Congrats on your purchase.

Ah, well, I had a good experience with mine, all my previous comments apply, it wont degrade quickly, my thoughts are itll last till GT6 / PS4 and if you can find it cheap enough, ill be the best wheel. Try eBay UK?

I think a lot of people on here have probably gone from a DFGT to a G27. I have anyway. Below are my thoughts on the two wheels

I like the shifter buttons on the DFGT than the paddles on my G27 due to performance reasons only. The ergonomics on the DFGT is better for the buttons and I also miss the PS button and other buttons. The two main reasons why I 'upgraded' are due to wanting a wheel that makes less noise and getting the G27 for a very cheap price. The pedals makes a difference in games like F1 2010 but for GT which equalises hardware it makes very little difference. I also wanted the option to use clutch and H-Shifter. I think the FFB is better on the DFGT than the G27 on GT5 but the G27 makes that up with the quicker wheel speed. The G27 with the dual motors overheats more than the DFGT and does not centre as well as the DFGT due to the extra motor.

It would be awesome if Logitech update the DFGT wheel with options of adding a shifter to it and better pedals in the future and also making it use helical gears. It would make the already awesome wheel the ultimate entry level wheel for PS3 and PC.

I can see why people say the G27 is toy like compared to more higher end wheels as it feels that way to me without even trying the better wheels out there. Best thing to go for the best wheel you can afford while looking at the positives and negatives of the wheels from your perspective. If the DFGT used helical gears, I most likely would not have got a G27 as the noise can get annoying for me and probably others.

Sorry it's late to ask about this old post, but could somebody tell me is it the DFGT that noisier or the G27 that's noisier?

DFGT is noiser than G27 by quite a margin, good to look on YouTube for videos to listen to noise difference and reviews of these wheels.
