i few weeks ago i put a xbox 360 fan in my dfgt . the pics i posted had the hole cut and the fan in but no fan grill or on/off switch . i went ahead and finished it all up this weekend . i said before in my 1st post i was goin to use lexan for a grill. i ended up cutting it wrong, and it didnt look very clean. so i picked one up at my local pc store for $ 2.50 . then got a push on/push off switch for the fan at radio shack for $ 3.00 . i was going with a rocker switch with a led ,but it just didnt look right ......well heres my pics.....

LOL so hwat go get the death ring LOL ****box
No rrod over here I've had my 360 since it came out. Don't hate the Xbox . And anyway the treads about this wheel . I fix alot of Xboxs and most of the time they break cuz of human error ,like playin it in a tv stand locked in glass for hours and smoking in the same room . I even seen one with bed bugs in it.
If you change out the heatsink clamps before u red ring it will run just as long as a ps3 .

Off topic, but the 360 is an awesome well built machine, and I never had any RROD errors, though one of the Delta cooling fans is already starting to fail every now and then, bad grinding sound. MS could have tested more, but it's a solid system too.

Speaking of cooling fans, why did you choose a 360 fan OP? They are high quality fans I think, even though one of mine is failing, they come from a quality company: Delta, the same fans Apple's G5's use, but I'm sure you could obtain similar fans w/o taking one out of the 360?

the fan came out of one of my old 360s ( it now has a 120 mm fan ) . i picked the 360 fan cuz when i tried to fit a 80mm fan the fan blades would hit the ffb motor. i also tried a 70mm low profile evercool fan . it fit tight and worked ok. but then i got to thinkin bout my xbox graveyard i have in my back room. so i digged up one set deltas and and poped it out its case. man i think that fan is made for the DFGT . its like 65mm wide(funny size) ,but the best thing was that it was brushless(5volts to this fan puts out some big wind) . the rest of the fans i had layin around were ball bearing fans . NO XBOX WAS HARMED DOING THIS MOD :)

That's some tightness right there man, sickage, I'll look into this if I find my DFGT getting too hot under heavy use, which I plan to indeed put int under ;) So, HOW exactly did you wire it up? Just tap into the USB line that plugs into the PS3/PC? Have any diagrams?

I just used the positive and ground on the USB cable . The only thing drawing power from that USB cable is the fan . Since most pc fans run at 12 volts , running a fan at 5volts is ok . It was super easy to wire. just connect all +pos to together to the pos side of the switch . Then connect the neg wires together to the neg side of the switch .

Nice man, thanks for the info. Do you have any left over 360 fans? If you're willing to let one or two go, I'll let you know if I may be down to buy some for this very purpose.

X-box hate trolling deleted.

By the way, nice install... I've seen wheel cooling fan installs before, but that one's pretty neat.

I've seen your first post and as always, its awesome! I like that switch, it really goes well with the wheel.

Thanks for the replys guys:) I'll be doing a cooling mod on a g27 in a few weeks if that adapter thing works for Xbox . I'm thinking about putting rc motor heatsinks on the motors ,but somehow have the heatsinks visible from the top of the case .

Can't wait to see the results.
