Help

I started having problems with my DFP a couple days ago, and I'm not sure what to try.

During a race, the wheel and pedals will just go dead.
The car will roll to a stop and the engine will rev, and the tach will show the engine revving - but the car wont move.

It usually starts with the automatic trans shifting slowly for a lap or two (hesitating on the up-shift), then no response from the pedals.
The car will coast to a stop, then revs but no movement.

I thought there might be a problem with the 7-pin connector from the pedals to the wheel, so I removed the plug and hardwired the junction - but no dice.

I'm really hoping there's a "fix", and this wheel isn't dead.
I just got back into GT4 after not playing for a while, and was looking forward to some racing.
To make it worse - Santa brought a 19" flat panel TV to replace the 13" crt I've been using forever - so I'm jonesing to get racing.

HELP!
(thank you)

That shouldn't be a problem with the wheel then if the engine is revving...it seems as if you aren't in gear although technically it's not possible on a DFP as there is no way to select neutral nor engage a clutch

Thanks for responding

That's the part that has me so stumped.....
You can hear the throttle rev, and see the tach move in response to a move on the pedals.
You also have steering and braking.

The gear selector indicates 1 or R for 1st and reverse, but the car wont move.

It's as if you threw a driveshaft or blew the torque converter on a real car.

I'm trying to borrow another PS2 thinking that maybe there's a problem with the USB port because if you unplug the usb and re-plug, the wheel will sync and it will work again for a lap or so.

I don't know anyone else with a wheel to borrow, so if it continues with another console, I guess I'm stuck buying another wheel?

It's such a weird issue I'd hoped other had had the same issue and it would narrow down the problems a bit.

No

The steering and force feedback works with zero issues.

The pedals also work - the car just doesn't respond to the commands given.
The tach registers rpm going up and down - but the car wont move.
The auto trans shows the vehicle is in gear.

The car will begin by running normally, then after a few laps the shift from fourth to fifth will lag.
Within a lap or two of the shifting acting up, the transimssion will just "disengage" for lack of a better word.
