I searched and searched and searched but I didn't see anyone specifying on what problems I encountered with the DFP.

I recently bought the DFP and its great for grip driving and provides awesome throttle and brake control; there is nothing to complain about with the DFP. I've been practicing for 6 hours now and I can't drift at all, not even one turn. I'm not having problems breaking the rear loose, but I am with knowing when and to what extent should you countersteer with what amount of throttle. I know all that can never be answered but maybe some tips on when to start the countersteer would help me start off. I usually end up spinning out (lack of countersteer or bad timing) or I get a horrible snap-back (countersteer too hard) shifting all my weight at the end of the drift making me spin out pretty bad. On the DS2 I wasn't the best at drifting but I had intermediate skill; I used to be able to link turns and I took the 270 degree turn in autumn ring with AWD cars. Maybe alittle bit of help or other practicing tips that haven't been mentioned in the forums already.

Yea, I saw those already. They have good stuff in there, but i'm looking on someone who can help me with timing my countersteer. Should you countersteer as you start drifting or before it?

I counter-steer as I start drifting, but my wheel only has 180 degrees of turn lock to lock, so I really can'r help with DFP drifting. :indiff:

PRACTICE! This is what I do. I take a car out to High Speed Ring Normal, and DRIFT, DRIFT, DRIFT, untill I can link all the sections together with that car, it could take several hours. Then I go to a low speed drift track (Autumn Ring Normal) and DRIFT, DRIFT, DRIFT, until you can link all the sections which could take multiple days. I then go back to HSR and have some fun. CONGRADULATIONS, you now know the car like the back of your hand.

YOU WILL HAVE TO DO THIS WITH EVERY CAR YOU WANT TO GET GOOD WITH BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL SO DIFFERENT!

The best thing to do is to get more seat time with the DFP....All the cars feel different in their own way so go out and try a bunch out....as for the countersteer...feel it out...btw...next time post in an existing dfp thread...

Countersteering is the begining of the end of a drift....if you countersteer too early or too much you will end up ending the drift...The best feel for countersteer is to let the wheel countersteer itself...it's your job to catch it and feel out how much countersteer to use...good luck...drift it if you got it

, but i'm looking on someone who can help me with timing my countersteer.

You're looking for something that doesn't exist mate!!! hehe, I too had this exact problem not even a month ago when I got my DFP, Now I drift great again...

This is practice, timing is practice!!! I can give you a tip though, feel what the wheel is doing and where it wants to straighten out etc, try to feel it...

Also, the key to DFP drifting, is smooth gas and steering inputs...

You just need to look m8, thats really it, but thats also the reason why you need to practice more, cause you cant look this way immediatly, you must see when your car gains angle, and increase your countersteer with it.

YOUR problem is pretty easy, countersteer fast and enough till you wont see the car increase it's angle. But offcourse, if you do it wrong it might be the case that you spin out in ONE second already. Then you can assume you:
-got the wrong settings
-got the wrong car
-are way to slow and late with your countersteer

You need to countersteer pretty fast and pretty early when initiating the drift. But make sure you checked your car and settings too before goin to throw away hours of practice;)

Countersteer just as you feel the rear tires making a move. Fastest way with a lot of turning radius might be to just let go of the wheel and try to catch it at the right time. I guess you have to find the amount yourself though, look at replays and compare how the front wheels line up compared to what you aimed for.

Watching Mike's vid from Team FBI might help you out a bit.

BTW, what car are you using and settings? A video demonstration would be nice.

My DFP/DS2 style for any balance car:

Full mods (Standard suspension)
Usually 300-400+ HP
Tires N2 all around
Brakes 24/3
Aids set to Zero
LSD 40/40/20

:)
