I searched to see if this topic was already mentioned but couldn't find any. But I'm sorry if there was a previous topic of this that I didn't see.

As all of you PS2 owners know, the PS2 has a function on the system menu called "Diagnosis" (turn system on without a game, press triangle, go select "Console" by pressing Triangle.) However, the manual does not explain well about how to use this feature. Any detailed explaination would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. (off-topic): In case you didn't notice: You know that boot-up screen that appears with the clear cubes and gray rectangle blocks? Well, the more information is on your memory card, the more gray blocks show up on the boot-up screen!

I dont know, sorry. To be honest i never noticed it before and have definatley used it, so your guess is as goos as mine.

Diagnosis mode forces the laser to focus on the disc. It must be turned on every time you turn on your PS2, it doesn't save the setting.

No, that's part of the Playstation Driver, you can go in and choose to improve the read speed of PSX discs or use the texture smoothing option.
