Did I Mention That Bond's DBS is on Sale? For $265,000?

Very true that it is 599 money, and while I love my Ferraris to death, it isn't an Aston.
Yeah, but what would you spend your money on: A faster in every way Ferrari or a gussied up version of an Aston already fairly common? Many people buy these types of cars to be seen, and you won't be seen as much in a DB9+ than you would in a Ferrari. I personally dislike the 599 to a great degree (well, less so now that I have seen one in the flesh), but I wouldn't be able to jump at a DB9 with stuff thrown on top of it over one.

No, I think you're sane. I'd drive a 997 Turbo or GT2 if someone thrust the keys into my hands.

You're not talking about a Cayenne, are you? I'm asking because I have humane ways of putting you to death, as well as baseball bats with nails in and a variety of automatic weapons. :D

I am sufficiently terrified.:scared:

Much as I don't dislike the Cayenne, I was referring to the 911 range.
Failing that, I think I'd even be happier in possesion of a Cayman rather than AMV8.
I'd feel secure, I'd know that parts won't fall off when I need them, for example making a getaway from you and your automatic baseball bat and whatnots.👍

Plus the performance difference between AMV8 and Cayman isn't so huge I'd be forever regretting it.

One hopes that the cost will be a little more sensible compared to the Ferrari in the UK at least - the 599 is £180k over here. I can't see the UK DBS at much over £150k.

(Like, chea, that's like, the change I find down the back of my sofa. :P )

If its going to be a 60% price increase like it is on the US model, expect the DBS to come in around £196K.

Oh yes, it is.

I've witnessed a real-world head-to-head between a two hard-driven cars - a Porsche 997 Carrera S coupe, and a Vantage Roadster. On paper, the 997 has it nailed. The simple fact was, the Roadster was crawling all over the engine bay of the Porsche. I have to say, I was a tad surprised. The Vantage is ridiculously easy to drive fast on the road - something the DB9 and Vanquish are not, simply because of the huge lumps of torque (and comparative lack of tyre) they possess. If you're skilled, a manual Sport Pack DB9 will trounce a Vanquish, but you'll have sweaty palms if you're trying to lose the guy behind in a Vantage who is having so much fun he's giggling. On the road, the V8 is not as limp as the motoring magazines might have you believe.

The only Cayman which would provide a scrap for a V8 would be one that has been breathed on by RUF, 9ff et al.

There is just something so intriguing about the Aston that I'd have a very tough decision to make here. I love both cars, but I'd have to actually drive both before deciding on anything. Furthermore, I really don't care much about being seen, more or less that I have a cool car that I enjoy. The DBS flying under the radar is cool to me, and people in the know are going to recognize it much faster than everyone and their grandmother gawking at the 599. But, if I have one HUGE problem with the 599, its the manual transmission wait-list. The DBS, if I'm not mistaken, is manual-only. Thats a plus...

But I could always buy my XKR, Z06, V8 Vantage, and still have money left-over for a G8 GT.

But then as I say, it's not something I'd forever regret.

The Cayman is still quick enough to despatch most heathens when the going gets twist-ay.

Ouch. That's Ferrari 599 money.

While very true, that doesn't necessarily mean you get to buy one new. Ferrari has returned to this idea that not everyone with the money in hand can have one, unless you either are a well-respected previous customer or are prepared to pay a lot more than the MSRP to get one.

IMHO, Ferrari might want to come off what it thinks is a car only certain people should be allowed to have.

Very much agreed. Granted, the guys at the Ferrari dealer down in Miami were some of the nicest guys I've talked to, you kinda get the feeling that they're very full of themselves. The wait-list for an F430 and the 599 is just outrageous these days, and I'm actually quite surprised that so many people can afford them.

...I guess Lamborghinis and Aston Martins are too "common" these days...

It does make you wonder how "exclusive" the TVRs will be here in the US...

Toronado nailed it: Replace the Vanquish, then we'll talk.

While I can't argue with how good this thing looks, the price is going to be roughly in the neighbourhood of said deceased car, and I don't see how it's superior. The S had 520hp, and I personally preferred its looks. Though I really do find this DBS interior beyond satisfying...

You know the DBS is the replacement for the Vanquish, anyway I saw a DBS in person at Goodwood FOS 07, and it looks better in real life then the photos.

It's not really the proper replacment for the Vanquish, it's more of a stop gap, produce a top of the line DB9 variant while the next proper halo car is in development. That said, Astons nextHalo car isn't supposed to be the Vanquish replacment either, it's meant to be way above where the Vanquish was. I'd expect a new Vanquish to be in the works though.

As far as the DBS v the 599 goes, I'd take this without even blinking. It's just a more desireable car by a long shot imo.

Vanquish: 1835kg / 520hp = 283hp/tonne
DBS: 1695kg / 510hp = 300hp/tonne

Not a huge numerical increase, but to go faster, add lightness. :)

Of course, the Ferrari is very much different: 1690kg / 620hp = 367hp/tonne... I have to admit, ftw.

But as people have said, it's not necessarily all about how fast or how quick...

It's a Aston, all I can say is: It's got three things all though not as much as I would like in one of them, Power (Yup, that's the one), Beauty and Soul. I could live with a DBS with ease. :D So anyone want to lend me one?

Simply beautiful. Hence the reason why its on the background every time I boot up...
