A couple more shots from various espressoGTs. Warning: Porsche heavy!
^I had a little chat with the owner. It's a replica that he has since ages. The flying horse on the side is actually the old logo from Mobil Oil. I saw the car a couple times before already because it's stored in one of the "class-boxes" you can rent at the Classic-Remise (formerly known as Meilenwerk) here in Berlin. It's a place were you can buy and store classic cars, get them repaired and taken care off. A Ferrari dealer and a restaurant are also located in the building. I'll maybe posts some photos from there in the future.
^That's the car from a guy who owns a company that rebuilds them. In some places you could buy a good house for the price of one but if you hear what they're doing with them and start to look at all the details you'll start to understand. Some of his customers are also visiting regularly and every single of their cars is a stunning masterpiece.
^That's an Opel Calibra but I don't know what exactly. It has a tiny "500" logo on the side which could be a reference to the 500hp DTM version of the car. It also has Porsche calibers in the front and vents in the hood so must be quick. 😎
^This A Model got imported in pristine condition from the USA and got turned into what you see there. Every dent, paintchip and oxidation is basically handcrafted. German authorities like the TÜV (MOT) and the cops don't really know what to do with it because there aren't much if any regs for cars of that age when it comes to what lights, safety features and so on it has to have to actually be road legal. They're happy it has at least brakes, lights and indicators. 😄
Some shots from the Classic Love 2024 which was taking place at the Schleizer Dreieck (Schleizer Triangle) which is a historic race track in the East of Germany. Parts of the track are actually local roads that get closed off for racing like it's the case in Le Mans for example. If you get into the area some of the country roads start to have coloured kerbs which is quite a sight.
^These two are Melkus RS1000. They're sportcars that were hand made in the former GDR in very small numbers.
There maybe a relation to Dean but Mobil was actually sponsor of some 356 and early 911 racing. They also were sponsors of the two 550 Coupes taking part in the Carrera Panamericana in 1953 for example. That was before Dean became popular. I'd say it's actually more of a racing heritage than a "rebel" thing.
Today was "Ford" day at the British Motor Museum. There were gazillions of Capris, but there were some rarities too.
The highlight of the day was NHK295M - one of the most famous TV cars in history!
I spent a few minutes talking to the owner who said that the car was only used for 15 months of filming (during which time it was always owned by Ford), after which it was used for all sorts of random jobs until he bought it:
