It was the 964 RS that had no spoiler, the 993 RS had a GT2 style wing. Infact it's the 993 RS Clubsport that has the GT2 style wing, the regular 993 RS had a Turbo style whaletail wing.

The 993 was available in two different flavours - regular and clubsport. Either wing is technically correct ;)

Because there were no lug nuts, I believe the pin's purpose is to provide leverage so you could unscrew the center cap, which served as the only tie-down for the wheels and tires. I can't be sure though.

The pin on Centre locking wheel nuts in purely used to ensure the wheel nut itself does not come off should it loosen due to vibration. The picture below shows how the pin or clip is actually attached to the centre shaft, rather than the nut itself.

This image (actually from a scale model) shows the shaft and pin, without the wheel and tyre in place.

Centre locking wheel nuts themselves are tightened and released in the same way that standard wheel nuts are, the tool involved is simply bigger.

MAny 993 owners have the GT2 wing and front spoiler package here in HK. In fact I saw a yellow one just yesterday. But, yeah it doesn't have the original GT2 arches. Still, nice spot!

F40 - Mindblowing. Not as rare as you may think (I saw around 20 in one place at Ferrari's 50th anniversary at Silverstone a few years back, but still an amazing car and one of THE best sightings in this thread! Great stuff!!!

I don't even think we got the 993 GT2 here in the States yet I see the wing with some regularity.

I don't think you even got the 993 RS & RS Clubsport.

We got kind of screwed with the 993 models. We made up for it with the 996 where we got every single version known to man, though you wouldn't know it if you were me since I've yet to see a 996 GT2.

If you say EB110, I am driving to Lyons right now and we can tangle.
Cool. We could race our SUVs. I know the perfect place.
But nah. The EB110 is almost one of them, but I'd say it was more on par with the F40 than exceeding it due to its, for lack of a better term, understated styling. Similar to the McLaren F1. People who know what they are will go crazy, as will people who give them a closer loo, but they can be easily missed.
What I'm thinking of is the Jaguar XJ220 (though I'm sure one could argue about the XJR-15, I'm not one of them) and Vector W8. One because of its rarity and ridiculous dimensions, and one because of its stupidly excessive rarity and obscenely aggressive styling.

seen one!:sly:
a le mans spec one turned up at one of our forums trackdays couple of years ago.this thing was loud!spoke to the owner and he said he didnt have a problem giving me a passenger run in it just after he took his friend out in it.......but he was enjoying it so much he ran outta fuel :( and didnt have anymore race fuel with him (had been on the track for about 2 hrs on and off).apprently most xjr-15's were written off cause they had trouble with traction, most owners used them in a one make series even tiff needel owned one and wrote that off at spa

Two incredible cars, and definitely better spots than an F40. To this day I'd still do just about anything to see an XJ220. However I'd put about ten cars before the F40 - some of which have already been seen in this thread, such as the Enzo and the Bugatti Veyron. Also I'd consider the F50 a better spot - perhaps not a better car, but rarer, less-driven, and much more valuable.

I think I had heard that before. I just googled a picture, and it looks similar to a DeTomaso Pantera.

Spoken like someone who's never seen a Pantera.

Or a jet fighter, clearly, because that's the vehicle I'd compare it to.

EDIT: for the record, two of the 26 Vector W8s are in North Dakota.

Were they actually dirty or were they just gunmetal in color? It looks like they are gunmetal in color, though the front wheel looks like it has some brake dust on it.

...Vector W8...

About two summers ago, while I was at work a Vector broke down in front of our house in Ada. I was a little mad that I didn't get to see it, particularly when my Dad or Brother had no idea what it was. They didn't even take pictures, they thought it was some kind of kit car...

They are gunmetal-ish from the factory, but they are definitely dirty.

Why? It just means that the car actually gets driven. I mean, that's what they are made for, right?

This is true, but I drive the hell out of my car and my wheels will never look like that (neither will my gfs or my friends for that matter :sly: ) it's so easy to clean them and it does so much for the look of the car IMO. I keep a bottle of teflon wheel cleaner in the trunk wash wheels several times between each car wash. Those wheels are in fact gunmetalish but since the fronts are way darker it's pretty obvious that they are dirty, Fronts always collect more dust because they do more work. if you have a nice car and you want to keep it looking nice when you drive it so much then why not take time to clean what is often first noticed on your car?

I see where you are coming from, but it really doesn't bother me.

yeah I know, it bugs me abnormally, I clean my girlfriends wheels and my roommate/friends wheels as well. I'm like the little wheel cleaning fairy (no jokes please its just too easy)

I don't think we got the 996 GT3 or GT3 RS's, though.
