I love it!

For the camera suggestions, for spotting, get a SD750 or 1000. I just bought the 750 and its start up time is pretty much instant and pic quality is amazing! here are a few examples

Sorry for the terrible photo, I only managed to whip out my phone barely in time to get a picture as it was driving past.

Lotus Exige

Looked stunning in person though. Very nice colour.

Didnt say that it did.

Nor did I ever accuse you of saying that! Jeez, you are the most contentious human being in existence - give it a freaking rest!! You seem to always want to pick a fight with me every time I reply to one of your posts, and I hardly even remember who you are. Get over yourself and just stick to posting car photos!!

I seen a 70 Chevelle stopped at a red light with a blown 70 Nova next to it! I never had a camera but they were amazing! I felt their presence. The Chevelle looked to be all original too. Then 10 minutes later i seen an R32 GT-R that was stock on the outside minus the rims but he had a tuned motor due to the sound coming from it

Excuse me? Your post to me seems you imply in someway that i say it projects which i did not which i was simply stating so you decided to go and throw your toys out of the pram and go on a rant for no reason?

Im not under myself at all and remember you dont care all that much for my spots considering you havent replied to any of the last what 8 spots? Which have been some rather expensive cars.

Read it again. It really doesn't. It just sounds like Doug is disappointed that they don't. I think you read too much into that, mate. Come on chaps, let's keep things rosey.

I didnt read too much into it to me thats what it seems he said, would it have been so hard for him to word it better such as "its shame they dont project" rather than just "But they dont project."

To me that seems that i said they project in someway.

 I didn't say that, nor would a reasonable person infer that I implied that. Ease up on the sensitivity... sheesh.

Back to the cars...

I'll agree with you about the "NOT", it was abit pretentious.

But having a fight on the internet is like...

But having a fight on the internet is like...

...photographing a 1997 stock Honda Civic and pretending like it's the coolest spot in the world and trumps Doug's Veyron and MC12 spot?

This is the worst picture ever. I hate the camera on my phone.

I haven't the slightest clue what this is. It had a really deep sounding V8.

As i recall, it's a Lister Roadster kit car, 351 or 302 Ford V8 if they put it togheter with what the manufacturer suplies/advices you to put in. guttural cars, one threw a third place in the Car & Driver Super Tuner Challenge behind a Autothority Porsche 911 and a Lingenfelter Vette, only it costed a 100k less that those.

I'm looking to get a new camera. I want something I can do some serious playing around with but not too crazy in price. Any suggestions?

If you want a really good camera that you can play with, I'd recommend the Canon S5, it's got 8 mps of Canon quality, 12x optical zoom and some more in digital (its huge, believe me, you wont miss a beat, its almost as much as my 75-300), has a GREAT image stabilization function, full creative zone, tilting LCD screen that is REALLY practical, takes video, and has a supermacro option that lets you TOUCH your objective with the lens and will still put it in focus, is really light and somewhat compact, fixed lens but you can fit a tele or a wide angle on it. Oh, and it's sinisterly black.

I've had an S2 (the previous generation of the S5, practically the same but with 5 MPs) for two years and I couldnt be happier with a Camera, its does EVERYTHING well (well, the manual focus is pretty primitive, but it has a great autofocus so you really dont even use it, and this comes from someone who worked shooting cars with that for a magazine) and is an AMAZING bargain at 300 to 400 dollars on ebay.

believe me, its a superb camera, if the S2 wasnt that limited for magazine usage I wouldnt have bought the XTI, it was incredibly comfortable and did everything I wanted, and for what it costs, its something you cant really beat. buy this and a tripod and you can do whatever you want, and its a freaking steal.

Geez, I feel like going to Europe just to watch traffic. You guys are lucky. High-end cars are few and far between in a (relatively) small city in the US. In the 5 years I've lived in Colorado, I've seen a Ferrari 360 Spider, a couple Supras and Porsche Boxters, atleast three Lotus Elises, a Porsche race car I couldn't identify, a Lamborghini Gallardo, and a Countach in my city. C5 & C6 Corvettes are all over the place (I once saw a blown C5 Z06, which I later caught at a local car show), and I somewhat often see 1st- and 2nd-gen Dodge Vipers. I think I saw a 997 911 GT3 once, but it was dark and I can't be sure. I occasionally go down to Denver, where I've seen an Aston Martin and a few Porsches. I never had a camera with me on any of those occasions though.

If car shows counted, I've seen several great cars (the rarest would probably be a Ferrari 250 GTO or Ford GT40).

That's where Doug sees a lot of his great spots.

Whilst having a pint yesterday. Back's on the mend. Should be back in action this week. Hooray!

Greetings from Denver!!

Keep your eyes peeled in the Fort - you guys actually do have a considerable amount of cars up there. I've seen a photo of a 599 GTB on College Avenue, and that car and several other HIGH end exotics have been spotted up there many times. Fort Collins is close to a LOT of second homes (Estes Park etc) so you'll see more than you'd think. For a brief period, Fort Collins even had an MC12! (although it's gone now)

As for going to Europe to see cars, forget it!!! Just come down here and hang around a bit... I've seen practically everything imaginable here in Denver! A sampling of some very famous exotics on CO plates...

I'm probably cheating here seeing as I went to a car show, but here are some of the beauties I saw today:

Isetta!

Koenigsegg (poor photo - naturally it was drawing a crowd, and it was also being wiped dry by the people at the display from a rain shower a minute before)

Audi R8

Ferrari 512BB
n61206378_37672366_7580.jpg

I'd call this a rare spot - it's the new VW Passat CC, basically VW's version of the Merc CLS. I had no idea it was in production now

Back to front: Audis S3, R8 and RS6

Quite a haul! There were also things like an E30 BMW M3, a few 50s VW Buses, a new M3, M5 touring, Evo X etc, but the above were a bit more special. Oh, and annoyingly I missed out on getting a photo of the most pristine Alfasud I've ever seen :ouch:

Haha, Doug, you see more in Colorado than im gonna see in my month in Europe! What camera do you use again? I bought the SD750 just for the trip! haha

Doug, Colorado is good, and you've backed that up very well, but I think we pip you with Monaco, Maranello, Marbella, St Tropez, Cannes, Nurb, London, Nice, Paris, etc.

Although I hear California has a couple of boxster S' knocking about.

Homeforsummer, was that the supercar sunday festival in gaydon? I very nearly went to that but I had prom night beforehand, so getting up would've been a problem (If I'd have actually gone to sleep in the first place) Was it worth it? I'll be there next time.

+1. Doug is fat.

The thing about Nice and Monaco though, is that you catch the same cars every other day, and it doesn't take long until you've seen just about everyone who isn't in a common Ferrari (360/F430/etc.), Gallardo, or Porsche 911. The only time anything really amazing comes out is either after the Top Marques Show or a month or 2 after a supercar/sports car has officially been released.

London & Paris have been nothing special to me. My last trips to both cities caused me to see just about anything I can see in the states. Nurb (as in if you mean the 'Ring) is nothing too special. It's a German manufacturer playground with a few Ferrari 360s/F430s and whatever else the public has decided to bring. It's uncommon to see anything like a Koenigsegg or F40 there.

If you're looking for some good spots in the UK I'd definately recommend the following places-

  • Mayfair, London
  • Crapstone, Devon
  • Hull, Yorkshire
  • Hackney, GTR London
  • Frisby On The Wreake, Leicestershire
  • Little Sodbury, Gloucestershire

Mclaren, I know exactly what you mean with london, I spent 2 trips looking for exotics and the bets I got was practically a Continental. You need to know where to look, and you need an element of luck. Here it doesnt seem to matter what weather it is, theyre either all out or the best you'll see is a GWiz.

South is definetly central London, North, I haven't a clue.
Crapstone has been known to be rock solid for southern areas.

Haha, sounds like some good places to check! Ill be floatin around Germany, Austria, Italy, Greece and Prague for about a month, so ill check some stuff out! haha
