That S8 is lame, it's doesn't have the LED running lights on it.
 
There are a lot of these in Michigan, anyone that had anything to do with Chrysler and had a high enough position bought one of these. It's just no one drives them for some reason, if I had a sports car like that I would drive it every chance I could get.

Gotta love the Z8. Denver is truly full of them - I saw two in one day over Thanksgiving - they're rare wherever I go, but when I come home I always see dozens. Fortunate, because it's an absolutely gorgeous car.

The pictures can do most of the talking but a few sidenotes: after a long photo session, I called my friends; when they came and began taking photos the valet came up told us to stop taking pictures, saying the owner had complained. Yeah, right. Being in the public domain we didn't have to stop, but we did anyway. Temporary plates were out of Ohio, from Marshall Goldman Motors, an exotics dealer in the Cleveland area. The vehicle was equipped with E-gear and, barring any unknown vehicles, is the most expensive yellow automobile in the state. The vehicle sat outside the JW Marriott for most of the day. Just the fourth Murcielago I've seen in Denver, and while it's the tenth overall (and sixth Roadster), I'll never tire of this design. I was next to it for about 30 minutes and people were awestruck - person after person would walk by and jaw after jaw would drop. Made my day.

Wow when you look at the side profile of the Murci is really looks like a Diablo.

The Murcielago is a pig in comparison - the Diablo is so much more aggressively-styled and so much smaller, lower, and crazier. They're similar, but the Diablo is truly the freaking devil.

I couldn't blame him. If I had a brand new Lamborghini, I'm not too sure I'd want everyone taking pictures of it minute after minute. It'd be nice after a while, but I'm sure it does aggitate owners after a while to keep getting questions.

The owner was inside - to my knowledge he never came out, and would've had no knowledge of the photos. I think the valet made it up to get us away from the valet stand - really earning the tip. Most owners - particular Lamborghini owners, who are usually more the people-person type - relish in their car getting oohed and aahed over - have no problem with it - I've been doing this a long time and have gotten thumbs ups, smiles, waves, and never anything bad from any owner. It goes with owning the car.

Honestly, I think that if the owner had known the valet told us that he wouldn't have been happy with the valet.

I think it was because we had begun to lurk that the valet got a bit jittery. I can't blame him, but I also think he lied.

Second spot of the new Land Rover LR2. First spot was on Wednesday in Atlanta. Yeah, it's a crappy picture but I didn't really care to go around again for another shot. They'll be popular. They're cute.

Heading around the block to photograph the Ferrari below and I ran into this guy instead - good thing since he was just passing through. I love the 348, and I'm so glad I got to see two in the last two days - they're usually very uncommon. Very new plates on this, suggesting a purchase date of sometime in January.

This is a 550, not a 575; I've seen it a few times in the Denver area before - the last time was July 22, 2006 in front of the very same restaurant, in fact (EDIT: I checked - my first spot of the car was 9/21/05 - in front of the same restaurant - I've seen the car in three different years - in the same place!!). Obviously a beautiful car, but doesn't quite have the aggressive look of Ferraris of a similar age (although I suppose it's quite a bit more aggressive than the 456). Still, of course, a wonderful spot.

I know the Viper splits opinion, but be honest - this is just a great bit of photography. Sure, the subject helps a bit - but I think I deserve some credit here.

By the way, tabs - great SLR shot - there are very few of those things in this thread (though there are even fewer Tundra T3 spots - you may or may not be aware that the Tundra is the rarer of the two vehicles). Thanks for both shots!! 👍 +rep, if I can.
 
I was helping out with security with a Ferrari night with a local Ferrari Club chapter one night, vigilantly watching over someone's 360 Spyder. After about 5 minutes, some wealthy-loooking individual came out of a restoraunt and asked me, "how are things going?"

I replied "Nobody is touching this car."

The apparent owner then handed me a twenty-spot.

To him, this piece of metal, plastic and leather was expected to be treated like a member of a royal family. For me, if I hadn't been hired as a security guard, I would've treated the car like any other. It bothered me so much that people think these cars can somehow be treated greater than any other or be magically damaged by a passerby.

Not me - they're worth more, and as such they draw extra attention - not all of it welcome. The owner is lucky he had the valet looking out for it, just his concern was unwarranted. There are stories all over F-chat of cars keyed and other bad things that happened to un-guarded vehicles.

Tell me about it. I've heard quite a few stories during meets here in Texas as well like stolen Ferraris and Porsches only to be found in chop houses. :nervous:

No problem. Yeah, I know the T3 Tundra is rare (thanks to this thread, actually). But it was definitely a treat to see the SLR, though. Wow, what an awesome car. 👍

Yes - very much so - originally I thought it was ugly, underpowered (for the price - considering that an SL65 has the same power output for $250,000 less) and for women (automatic) but I've really come around recently. It's an incredible automobile, and it's got some incredible characteristics. I've seen just one - I wish I could see more.

No, I'm talking about owners yelling at people because someone ran their finger along the carbonfibre trim on the engine cover, or someone "walked too close" to the car. You're right, they draw extra attention, but if you're going to have a stroke cause someone touched your car, you've got a bit of a priority issue. It's your car, not your child.

edit - Doug, you've only seena single SLR? I've seen a good dozen.

On this point I agree. Many owners get way too protective. However on the forums recently (F-chat and L-power) the prevailing attitude I seem to see is, 'it's just a car.' Then again, I think to myself that the people with the attitude described above probably don't participate in forums. Oh well - in my view we've got more people driving their supercars now than ever before.

One SLR - April 23, 2006. The female driver told me her father lent it to her for two weeks, and showed me the interior. The vehicle had Kansas plates. I'm unsure as to whether there are even any SLRs registered in this state. Two were for sale at local dealers, but with cars like the SLR you never know where it will go. Denver is an enthusiast market and to many the SLR is a less-than-enthusiast car, so I'd be none too surprised if we had zero. There have been two SLR spots by my friends in the Denver area (including mine) - both female driven. And while there are probably several in Atlanta, everyone knows the one driven by a famous baseball player's wife. Perhaps I should take back the comments I made earlier about coming to respect the SLR. :D

By the way - here's the odd part - one SLR, but three Carrera GTs. :confused:

If the SLR can't be respected simply because it's heavy and runs an automatic then I'm going to have to disagree.

The SLR, automatic transmission and female driver or not, is an awesome car.

This all makes me think of a line from a certain steely dan song... "you wouldn't know a diamond if..." :sly:
