I think the Ford GT, Saleen S7, Mosler MT900, SSC Aero, & even the Hennessey Venom would like a word.

Duh, yeah, Ford GT, too. Others are too low in production to really have the same sort of global public relations impact, too exclusive. It's like if somebody asked what American supercars there are, doesn't count if they can be dismissed as, "Yeah, but that's just slapped together by a couple of guys in a shed..."

Went to recycle some newspapers and made a lap around the roads. Because who doesn't?

C2 Corvette that was HAULING. Maybe a '67?

Unsure what kind of Plymouth this is. My only real guess is a Belvedere.
20140713_110449-1.jpg

And Lastly, a car that has been on my "to see" list for a LONG time... I saw him in my rear view mirror and thought "that is a nicely modded Corvette... wait, THE GRILLE! ER MA GERD!"

Apparently he's close with Bond.

So, the McLaren F1, Zonda, & Koenigsegg aren't supercars? The manufacturing process is just the same.

Well, hand built, you mean? But more than 50 of each made, right? And Koenigseggs for example come from a country with fewer people than Ohio, so to be a supercar from Sweden shouldn't take that much production to get you recognition. I see they marked their 100th car Dec 2nd 2012, so probably 130+ by now. 139 Zondas alone had been built by Pagani as of 2009. Something near 100 McLaren F1's as well. Plus McLaren has gone on to become a major manufacturer.

14 Moslers, only car from this company, and some of those cars were made in England... so no
Venom GT, 29 cars, from a tuner, doesn't quite cut it
78 Saleen S7's, and the only car ever made by a company known for tuning, not manufacturing, but I'd partially include this in the list of American supercars because more than 50 were made
SSC Aero can't find the production figures, but coming from Shelby and continuing with the Tuatara, yeah, this too should probably be included

But I'd still say the only American supercars that don't get a asterisk for low volume are the Viper, ZR-1, and Ford GT. But that's just me and we can agree to disagree, for me there need to be enough of them made that people actually have a good chance of seeing one without being from LA, Miami, or Houston.

The last few pages were astounding!👍
Time for Manila to shine again!

The morning of July 13 is comprised of two parts, one was taken in a very early morning (7:30-8:30 am) while the other is in a reasonable morning (9:00-10:30 am).

The S7 was the car that Saleen got its manufacturer certification to build. It was only after the S7 went out of production and the company essentially collapsed and was restarted soon after did they go back to being a tuner. The Venom obviously doesn't count, and SSC has always been vague for whether the Ultimate Aero model sold to the public was just the modified kit car that the original prototypes were or its own thing; but the S7 absolutely counts as a production car. For Mosler, them building many of their cars in England had more to do with the initial struggles in getting the car street legal in America than anything.

Just because a car gets more recognition doesn't make it any more or less of a supercar.
I see they marked their 100th car Dec 2nd 2012, so probably 130+ by now.
Not likely. There was an article this year by Jalopnik that stated Koenigsegg had 10% of the total production at its plant. There were around 10 or so complete cars; 9 under covers, plus the car on the turn-table.
139 Zondas alone had been built by Pagani as of 2009. Something near 100 McLaren F1's as well. Plus McLaren has gone on to become a major manufacturer.
64 road cars. You can throw in the 5 LMs & 3 GTs, but those cars have been nothing more than showroom pieces their entire lives.

Major manufacturer also has zero relevance. Saleen's name in the industry has been there for as long as the F1.
14 Moslers, only car from this company, and some of those cars were made in England... so no
Try 35 or so road cars & under 50 race cars & that's the MT900 line. Either include all the models as you've done, or don't (because 1/3rd of those Zondas can be scratched as mere 1-offs).
Venom GT, 29 cars, from a tuner, doesn't quite cut it.
Recognized manufacturer by the government just like Ruf & Gemballa.
78 Saleen S7's, and the only car ever made by a company known for tuning, not manufacturing, but I'd partially include this in the list of American supercars because more than 50 were made.
Tuning excuse from before still has no relevance.

But I'd still say the only American supercars that don't get a asterisk for low volume are the Viper, ZR-1, and Ford GT. But that's just me and we can agree to disagree, for me there need to be enough of them made that people actually have a good chance of seeing one without being from LA, Miami, or Houston.
If these cars get an asterisk for low volume, so does the F1, Zonda, & CC"x"/Agera. Don't cherry pick your reasoning based on something silly such as how popular a manufacturer is. They're all built to the same parameters as most supercars are & they were all built in low production numbers as far as homologation rules are concerned.

The F1 most certainly does not get an asterisk because it was produced before the term "supercar" was mainstream.
You literally find a way to argue about anything

The term supercar was around over 30 years. Your logic holds no more ground than "this is a supercar because it's more popular".

Regardless, Jeff & I have resolved it. I understand where he comes from now.

The Fiat 124 in front of her is also for sale but it has some utterly horrid wheels on it.... plus Ferrari stickers on the back bumper, and a De Tomaso Pinifarina emblem on the left quarter panel. (The owner's an Italian; Italia Cap in the back of the Mini)
