I should think, utilising their new modular car-modelling technique for addons (?) / damage, that this would easily allow for many more "unique" cars in the game. Previously, I imagine, each variant had to be distinct entities and were therefore counted separately. Just think, all those R34s could be listed under only one 'image', or whatever. But, I digress...
By the bye, I managed to comfortably win GT4's Schwarzwald Liga B (the low-power one) with a nearly-stock BMW 120d! The only mods, I think, were semi-racing clutch / flywheel set for faster shifting, and maybe an uprated ECU! (On SM tyres, obviously...) Torque matters, as they say.

you might hate me for this but i voted no. i may be a little old fashioned but when i am sitting there in my attic listening to the game sounds, if i have a diesel it would just be rattles and fizzes, unlike petrols which have that really powerful sound. forgive me if i am old fashioned.

I think we should get diesel VW's , Toyota's and other makes of diesel road cars. I know im not the only one here who enjoy the slow cars every once in a while , I even tried to take the model T ford around Nordschliefe in GT4 but it didnt have the power to conquer the first hill.
Actually you can very esily - and very "plesantly" IMO - take the Model T round the ring; you will surely have a much harder task with the 19th century Mecs or even some more modern cars like the citroen 2cv...
OT: I´ve been driving diesels since 1995 and obviously welcome dielsels in GT5 (not that that's anything new since there were a few diesel cars in GT4).
And of course some diesels are slower than others... but I remember that even back then my 82hp 1.7 td vectra flew past many more powerfull petrol cars whenever I began ascending a hill on the motorway.

Don't think we need to go that far, any racing diesel (well prepared) makes some "interesting" sound and very good performance.
But the "rush" you feel on a GTD TDI HDI TID and any other acronym that resembles GTI, it's the turbos. Not the diesel making the difference. And for that, we've had many petrol turbos, and we have the latest generation arriving with the TSI engines and any competitors from now on.
I know I'll be getting some "hate mail" my way now, but I just don't believe in diesels unless it's to save me money. It's my opinion.
But if there can be diesels without sacrificing the possibility of having even more petrol cars (models), then I'd say yes, why not 👍
